Barnes, Kelly, And Longstaff Start Against Spurs At St. James’ Park

Newcastle are back at St. James’ Park today with a potentially revealing test against Tottenham. Eddie Howe has named the following eleven for the clash which has four changes from the midweek Carabao Cup win at Forest.

This is a strong team with Howe once again naming a front three of Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes, and Anthony Gordon. Getting the trio clicking in front of net is vital after not strengthening the attack in the summer transfer window.

This is the team Ange Postecoglu has named. It’s a rare start for former Juventus and Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in the place of the injured Micky van de Ven.

A win and all could be well again on Tyneside. The Magpies are undefeated and three points takes them into the top five ahead of the first international break of this season.

@Munster we were always told that was because of injuries and having same players playing every game. No excuse now

Not getting the blocks in like we did against Southampton with 10 men. Too many open shots for Spuds

There’s no doubt about it, we’re not the same team we we’re 2 years ago, even a year ago.

Zero doubt. This high pressing intensity high scoring team is nowhere to be found anymore

Isak not being able to hold it up or win a header is such a big problem for us gets to him we lose possession

Would be better with Joelinton up front with Isak a little further back so he has room to play

Us sitting back doesn’t help the best out of Isak but we are also restricted by what we can do when he’s up front as we can’t really cross it into the box so we lose it trying to pass it into the box

Agree Rob. I was hoping it would return this season now that the injury crisis is mostly behind us.

Barnes moving up the IrishRob’s rankings in the squad? In the top 7 to maybe top 6.

I think almost everybody knew it was a goal soon as Barnes struck it.

Tonali and Hall coming on second half for Kelly and Longstaff will be a big boost and less of a card worry with them off.

Brilliant from Kelly there Just snuffed out the danger and won a throw

Last season those situations were resulting in opposition goals
