Barnes, Kelly, And Longstaff Start Against Spurs At St. James’ Park

Newcastle are back at St. James’ Park today with a potentially revealing test against Tottenham. Eddie Howe has named the following eleven for the clash which has four changes from the midweek Carabao Cup win at Forest.

This is a strong team with Howe once again naming a front three of Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes, and Anthony Gordon. Getting the trio clicking in front of net is vital after not strengthening the attack in the summer transfer window.

This is the team Ange Postecoglu has named. It’s a rare start for former Juventus and Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in the place of the injured Micky van de Ven.

A win and all could be well again on Tyneside. The Magpies are undefeated and three points takes them into the top five ahead of the first international break of this season.

Howay The Lads!

Kelly having a very decent game so far. Odobert is an absolute handful and he’s managed him well. Unleucky to be booked.
Too many bookings in first half and that could come back to bite us.

Longstaff with 5 tackles. The rest of the team have 3 between them.

    Quietly getting on with business.

Kelly best player of the half so far, been solid and been good on the ball. Odobert is a sticky customer but he’s kept him quiet and popped up everywhere.

I know we’re used to smashing Spurs, but they’re a decent team. Think we’re playing pretty well and clearly worked on our defensive shape to try and nullify Spurs’ attack. Working well and we’re a great threat on the break.

Keep it up and can easily grab a second on the break second half.

Three of Fenham’s brownshirts posting answers there’s only one of ’em showing any signs of intelligence and life in the real world.

Mund, Tuff, you’ve a lot to do emulate The Ledge!

Think it’s howes strategy holding us back most games. We get out of the first third ok but too many home run balls to wingers or isak that get snuffed out rather easily. It’s not a possession based style but a swing for the fences every touch of the ball style.

My happiness at getting Kelly is well founded.

Started slowly and let two crosses come in but grown into the game well. Hall has a fight for the shirt.

Gordon still doesn’t look right though.

    Was his head turned?

Commentators saying that was an incredible challenge but not really. Clipped Isak, not the ball.

Soft, I know, if it had been given.
