Newcastle are back at St. James’ Park today with a potentially revealing test against Tottenham. Eddie Howe has named the following eleven for the clash which has four changes from the midweek Carabao Cup win at Forest.

This is a strong team with Howe once again naming a front three of Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes, and Anthony Gordon. Getting the trio clicking in front of net is vital after not strengthening the attack in the summer transfer window.
This is the team Ange Postecoglu has named. It’s a rare start for former Juventus and Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in the place of the injured Micky van de Ven.

A win and all could be well again on Tyneside. The Magpies are undefeated and three points takes them into the top five ahead of the first international break of this season.

Comment #1842I think it’s difficult for teams round there since the two Manchester giants became so successful, any kids growing up in that area aren’t supporting Oldham, Bury or Rochdale anymore.

When you get to our age you’ll find out that you’ll start to regress, physically and mentally. Eventually I suppose we end up being children again, and require a lot of looking after. We lose all of our social filters, assuming we had any to start with. The point at which this starts to happen is different for all of us. Anyway, it’s great fun. Winky emoji.

Is a comment like “I hope EGB doesn’t claim to have invented the breakfast club now” really so offensive that it can turn in to such a grudge man. I told what I thought was a funny story about OLG and the nightshift, what followed was two days of being called a Magpie while you littered the place with 10K word posts because i said you never started a nightshift that nobodygives a jot about, you don’t think I’m not going to poke fun out of that from time to time.

Comment #1862It appears you can’t have a laugh and a joke
Without the fear of upsetting some bloke
As Jail’s jocular quip about the Nightshift
Has caused, it would seem, an unnecessary rift
I find it a complete and utter mystery
How anyone could take it so seriously
Apart from anything else, what does it matter
It’s only a bit of light-hearted patter
Bill, you’re seeing things that aren’t there again
Jail’s not on your case, he’s just yanking your chain
If you hadn’t lost your humour you wouldn’t be making a fuss
Give the depot a call, it might have been left on the bus!

Comment #1864If we have a harsh winter a lot of OAP’s will die because of the cold/lack of money to pay for heating bills. Some policy killing off the OAPS. People who have worked a lifetime for this country.
Labour is going to take away the winter fuel payments. It should be noted MP’s get allowances to heat their second homes and offices.
Shocking policies just about every day now. Starmer oot /leftoids oot.

thank you for the advice, however it was not me who decided to lob in this comment.
‘The Breakfast club just doesn’t exist anymore, I’d love to hear who EGB thinks started that’
Why does he have to menbtion me other than to get a reaction.
He is either stupid, naive or just vindictive.
I’d put the nightshift fiasco firmly away, with no further interest and i have clearly said this.
So if jail was hoping for me to react, then congratulations he has succeeded, I hope that make him happy..
It all just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

You know I’m just having a laugh as always, but in truth, so was Jail.
I honestly don’t think he was looking for a reaction. I read it as ‘banta’, as they say round these parts. I’m sure most others did too.
I think he’s a good sort and I’m sure he didn’t intend to cause you any genuine upset.
Stick in, and keep posting.
No harm done eh?

Comment #1876All I’ll say on the winter fuel payment is that far too much goes to those who do not need it ( such as I) compared to many non OAP’s who suffe
This is the wasted cost of many non tested benefits because testing is time consuming, expensive and requires extra man power
As I understand it the Government is rying to find the simplest way of a crude means testing without increasing the no of civli servants to implement and admimister a full on time consuming system ( now that would cause a fuss!!)
As the deficit allows it will be revisited and tweaked i presume
The need tor unwelcome costcutting arises because the previous governrment wasted so much on likes of ineffective PPE and other covid fraud payments which were never recovered,,Truss’s nightmare budget, decrease in NIC, full salares for Life to Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak, Bankers bonuses and so on and so on
The triple lock has been maintained when wages haven’t kept pace so some consideration has been given there
Perhaps some would rather tax rises on working people instead to fund the unaffordable level of payments because there is no effective system of easily paying out to only those who most definitely need it
It seems a hard decision has had to be made – one amongst several that Sunak and Hunt avoided in an attempt to retain power but knew therein lay traps for Labour should they win
I’ll have to go back over the Blog to see if Truss’s budget and it’s devastating effect on mortgages, rents and cost of living leaving some OAP’s deciding between food or heat was called out by the same concerned posters
Then again I won’t because i know it wouldn’t have been
I respond as a labour voter since Hibbit asked and one who avoided posting on here about Boris and Truss in particular when there was so much that could have been said but it;s a football blog
Nice to see that amongst our righter leaning bretherern there can be a form of wokism not seen for 14 years 🙂
I have not seen any of debate ofr vote today so post without that benefit

You really are expecting too much in expecting criticism of the previous regime from some of our posters.
They won’t be too anout PPE and other Covid-related fraud payments which were never recovered, Truss’s nightmare budget, the decrease in NIC, full salares for life to Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak, Bankers bonuses and so on and so on…… That’s all OK when you consider that that government clsimed to have managed Covid better than anywhere else….. well, until weaknesses and abuse is slowly being exposed by the Inquiry.
The likes of Tuff, can’t or won’t see beyond the front page of the Daily Mail or The Telegraph. What a waste of time trying to educate them!
