Barnes, Kelly, And Longstaff Start Against Spurs At St. James’ Park

Newcastle are back at St. James’ Park today with a potentially revealing test against Tottenham. Eddie Howe has named the following eleven for the clash which has four changes from the midweek Carabao Cup win at Forest.

This is a strong team with Howe once again naming a front three of Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes, and Anthony Gordon. Getting the trio clicking in front of net is vital after not strengthening the attack in the summer transfer window.

This is the team Ange Postecoglu has named. It’s a rare start for former Juventus and Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in the place of the injured Micky van de Ven.

A win and all could be well again on Tyneside. The Magpies are undefeated and three points takes them into the top five ahead of the first international break of this season.

I think he’ll go Tripps, Schär, Burn and Kelly tomorrow. Mainly cos they’re the ones he’s had all break to work with.

    Bournemouth hit the post 🙁

I had thought that but Tino didn’t get a game and will be fit and is already a full part of Eddie’s chosen back 4 this season

Up to Tripps to force him out rather than he just gets in as Tino was away – reverse of last season yet Tripps was always the man unless injured

Yeah good thoughts Magscar. There’s certainly a degree of license in Hope’s reporting on this, but also plenty of justification too I think. Plus it’s football. It’s all just entertainment really. I like him as a journo. You wouldn’t rely solely on him, but I think he’s definitely good to have in the mix, and I’d say probably not far off the mark on this.

True, I’d prefer Tino and Hall if I’m honest. Eddie never makes it easy to predict the line up, tho I do think Kelly will definitely start…definitely, maybe in the words of Oasis.

    magscar,
Yes, a no lose situation really. I think the tough time will come later in the season for Everton, as it did for us last season, when the Cup and CL kick in. But Everton look like real relegation fodder – even though I said that last season !!

Hindsight is a great thing as they say but thank god we either never were in for or didn’t get depending on who you believe the likes of Szoboszlai , Maddison ,Diaby ,Murdyk they really have done very little to impress especially Diaby who was sold after one season .
Szoboszlai is the next one to go i would say a few of us said on here last year he wasn’t great, and again today he was usless .
Liverpool supporters are starting to grow tired of him now .

If Hope had a pair, he would be asking the hard questions himself, not depending on others, which he has done in the last two press conferences to ask the questions he has written the headlines for .
The man is a sh1t stirrer, but he has gone too far now with all this civil war bull.
His mask has slipped now, and he is being rounded on by a good majority of the fan base .

Can’t agree with you on Maddison Ledge. Think he’s key for Spurs, and would have been a great addition for us. Lovely footballer, and really great at playing between the lines, and delivering a killer pass. Works hard too. Spurs really run around.

I watched Hope a lot last season and always enjoyed his take and his walks around leafy Gosforth – might give him the benefit of the doubt and watch him again

Yes there is no smoke without fire but i think he is perhaps overemphasing as it would make a good story- we’ll see

I think we all want to see it resolved with everyone happy as we have had far too much soap opera over the years and other clubs and journos love it

Nicky ……he could very well turn out to be a great signing for them, but up to now, with all his injuries last year and his form not being great, we haven’t missed out on much .
Speaking tka few Spurs supporters, they expected more from him, albeit his injuries didn’t help.
So, as of now, missing out on him has been no great loss to us .
