Hall, Murphy, and Tonali Start Against Man City

The Magpies face a stiff challenge after a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Fulham last weekend. The preeminent champions Manchester City stroll into St. James’ Park looking to solidify themselves as league leaders once again.

Eddie Howe has made some changes for this clash with Sandro Tonali getting his first league start since returning from his suspension. Unfortunately, Alexander Isak’s toe injury will keep him out of this one.

Here is the team Howe has selected with three changes from Craven Cottage.

This is the side Pep Guardiola has named for the Citizens.

Expectations are low for any result today. You never know, the lads may pull something off as this fixtures has not been bereft of drama over the past few seasons.

Man City are playing experimentally without Rodri and KDB… isolate Haaland, be clinical, and there’s always hope.

Full tribute to Gordon in the Leazes End – even after drop in form and potential Liverpool move. Our fans really are something else. Top f*cking drawer.

Have a strong feeling he’ll score today

We already look lightyears better than any other performance this season.

    Hopefully it will be enough.

    Murphy is dogshit.

Biggest mistake of the summer was not getting a right winger. Shud have been prioritised over the centre back

Been in some great positions but that final decision or pass is letting us down. You always know it will potentially cost you if you don’t take your chances against teams like this.

    Excellent defending by Trippier

Been one of his biggest weaknesses in the last year where he falls asleep at the back post but that was superb

Don’t like these yellows. One thing that will ruin any chance of a result is a red card.

The only negative is the scoreline.

Great overall performance. Minus a few individual errors, but those happen now and again.

Shame about that goal but Impressed with out display first half, think schar was daft going after grealish also 2 needless cards for bruno and joelinton.
Pope really need stopping these mistakes he should have just put his foot through it, unlucky joelinton he’ll of a strike.gordan has performed better with his pressing of there keeper, we can still get something out of this game lads.

A lot of space behind their lines, we could take advantage.

City playing a different approach, almost wanting to hit us on the counter themselves.

Perhaps they saw, vs arsenal, that it’s hard to beat a well organized defense.

Do we deserve to be losing?

    No

I think Barnes is a great goal scorer but not a great 90 minute player.
It was one of the criticisms from Leicester fans I saw when he first signed, he tends to fade in and out of games.

Very impressed the way the Toon are playing today, and they are very unfortunate to be behind, for me this is their best performance this season by a country mile folks.

Played well but the keeper has only made one save.
It will be tough to get 2

Saying what a great goal build up was good, but if you look at the goal it come off tonalis inside ankle and moves the ball away from pope in to the far corner.
