The Magpies are coming off a magnificent performance against Manchester City. The lads battled for a well-deserved point against the reigning title holders to rebound off a poor display at Fulham.
The stakes remain high as Newcastle hope to advance in the league cup against League Two Wimbledon. Eddie Howe won’t let the lads relax as not advancing in this competition would be a severe blow.
This is the team Howe has named for tonight’s cup tie. It has eight changes from the weekend with a full debut for Will Osula.

A comfortable evening would be welcomed by all the Toon faithful. Let’s hope the Mags can get the job done comfortable tonight and book a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Comment #3Here we go. Hope we don’t have a Crazy Gang tribute act tonight. Solid win and no injuries plus a decent run out for Osula would do very nicely

Comment #8Very impressive as a striker at the weekend was Gordon. Good judge Eddie.

Comment #9not sure about midfield if Willock starts ton right again? He’s not as effective there
Hopefully Longstaff there with Joelinton centre and Willock on left ?
Joelinton could swap with either I suppose
Be good to see how Osula shapes up – He did well for Sheff U against lower league opposition last season

Comment #18Wimbledon with nothing to lose so need to start with the right attitude tonight.
At them from the start, and don’t allow them any early set pieces.
Early goal for us and it should hopefully be a comfortable night.
Really looking forward to seeing Osula after a few months working with the first team squad.
Good hunting Will…
3-0 the toon.

Comment #36This is what City fans must feel like, every week.
Can’t say it’s too bad to be on that side. Total domination, absolute possession, trying to break down a valiant defence.
We’re not used to this and we do need more movement and combinations up front.
Had forgotten how mobile and what a live wire out of favour Miggy is.
For those who aren’t watching he won the penalty. He scored too, just offside.

Comment #39I think we’ve controlled the game pretty well
Wimbledon have made it difficult for us but sometimes a penalty is what it takes for us to get the ball rolling
They have to come at us a bit more so should open up space
Almiron has been impressive like the link up with Tino and good to see him drift into a no 10 position a lot he looks so much more natural when he does that because he’s a no 10!

Comment #40Osula and miggy are a bit similar. both get into good positions,,endless energy..
however their first instinct is to beat their man.. don’t have great vision .
both have done relatively well though,, so far
