Barnes, Gordon, and Hall Start At Everton

Newcastle take on the Toffees at Goodison Park this afternoon looking to keep the momentum going. The lads are coming off a terrific point against Manchester City while advancing to the Carabao Cup Round of 16 where they’ll take on Chelsea at St. James’ Park.

Everton too have a bit of momentum after getting their first win of the season against Crystal Palace last weekend. This will be a difficult test for the Magpies, who still struggle away from home.

This is the side Eddie Howe has named for today’s clash. It is the same team that drew 1-1 against Man City last weekend.

Here is the team Sean Dyche has selected for the hosts.

Taking all the spoils at Goodison would mean a comfortable international break on Tyneside. It will not be easy as the Toffees have played well and but for some late match collapses, would be in a much better place in the table.

Hopefully, this team can get the job done and Anthony Gordon can again play well up front in place of the injured Alexander Isak.

Howay The Lads!

If we play with the same effort as we did at City, Everton don’t stand a chance

Hi Magic! I’m great thanks mate.

Ye I agree an early goal vould set us up do nicely, we always play far better usually when we take the lead. Not an easy place yo get point from regardless of their position.

This could easily be a banana skin but I think we will do enough to get the win.

Gordon up front against a team with a low block won’t work. Think he will struggle tonight. He’s OK upfront against teams with a high line with loads of room to run into lik last week. But playing up front against a team that’s known for a low block with his back to goal is not his game. I would of started osula for his strength and link up play for this type of game with gordon and barnes on the wing. Think it will b a struggle for us tonight with Gordon up top.we’re known to struggle against teams that play with a low block.Not. unless Everton surprise me and actually come out and play abit. Head says draw heart says Toon win tho lol. Hopefully Gordon will score a hat-trick to prove me wrong lol.

Like Edwards article today that PIF is considering rebuilding sjp and knocking down multi story car park. 65 to 70 capacity.

Looks like Garner is playing right back for Everton. Should target that area to get in behind. Barnes should have the beating of him all match, especially with Hall overlapping.

    Good 4-3 win for Hartlepool.

They had only 4 shots, 4 on target, 4 goals.

Must have been conserving their energy.

Rob to be honest I would be more than happy with a scrappy 1-0 victory mate, a win and 3 points is all that matters Rob.

Interesting team. Not convinced about Hall – I ‘ll wait and see how he does. He will of course drift upfield on the opposite wing leaving his defensive position vacant. The commentator even highlighted this the last game.

Gordon is the only real proven forward. He could score and we could see a curler from Barnes 3 -1 to the Toon.

Ref not giving Everton 2 yellow cards.

That was a shot across the bows and a let off, we need to tighten up, and be particularly aware of those runs from Calvert-Lewin who looks very dangerous today.
