Barnes, Gordon, and Hall Start At Everton

Newcastle take on the Toffees at Goodison Park this afternoon looking to keep the momentum going. The lads are coming off a terrific point against Manchester City while advancing to the Carabao Cup Round of 16 where they’ll take on Chelsea at St. James’ Park.

Everton too have a bit of momentum after getting their first win of the season against Crystal Palace last weekend. This will be a difficult test for the Magpies, who still struggle away from home.

This is the side Eddie Howe has named for today’s clash. It is the same team that drew 1-1 against Man City last weekend.

Here is the team Sean Dyche has selected for the hosts.

Taking all the spoils at Goodison would mean a comfortable international break on Tyneside. It will not be easy as the Toffees have played well and but for some late match collapses, would be in a much better place in the table.

Hopefully, this team can get the job done and Anthony Gordon can again play well up front in place of the injured Alexander Isak.

Howay The Lads!

No ideas or creativity going forward. Most of the time it looks like we’ve never played together.

Decent performance. Really lacked quality in the final third. Hall, from an attacking full back, point of view is poor. Sloppy on the balk

I’m happy we played well but I’m depressed were absolutely hopeless up front.

Barnes has been poor for 3 games in a row now.

    We should have mullered them.
Not good enough dropping two points if you want top 4 and a new stadium.

Everton were shocking, scratch back 4 and our final passing was indecisive.

Pickford did not have to make a save apart from pen.
We were the better team buy you cannot say we deserved to win if you have no shots on goal

Check out goal differences of the top 8 and you can see where the momentum lies with clubs striving for top 4
