Barnes, Gordon, and Hall Start At Everton

Newcastle take on the Toffees at Goodison Park this afternoon looking to keep the momentum going. The lads are coming off a terrific point against Manchester City while advancing to the Carabao Cup Round of 16 where they’ll take on Chelsea at St. James’ Park.

Everton too have a bit of momentum after getting their first win of the season against Crystal Palace last weekend. This will be a difficult test for the Magpies, who still struggle away from home.

This is the side Eddie Howe has named for today’s clash. It is the same team that drew 1-1 against Man City last weekend.

Here is the team Sean Dyche has selected for the hosts.

Taking all the spoils at Goodison would mean a comfortable international break on Tyneside. It will not be easy as the Toffees have played well and but for some late match collapses, would be in a much better place in the table.

Hopefully, this team can get the job done and Anthony Gordon can again play well up front in place of the injured Alexander Isak.

Howay The Lads!

No, he meant two 8โ€™s in one team.
Is an 8 an attacking midfielder and a 10 more the playmaker?

An 8 is box to box really, doing both attacking and defending and a 10 generally behind the forwards in from of the central mf, should be canny technically and have a bit of nous about him.

According to Keith Downie, Botman won’t be back till Christmas. Plus he explains why the Tosin deal fell through which screwed the window up.

Just watched Sean’s interview (thanks for the link nadj). Good watch.
Interestingly, he reckons Botman is lightning quick.

Just watched Sean’s interview and enjoyed it very much – good lad ,relaxed and talked a lot of sense

He also said Boitman and Isak were “world class” ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, he did seem very relaxed and it was interesting to hear his take on stuff. I was going to mention the “world class ” comments as well but thought it might be a bit much all at once ๐Ÿ˜€

Because everything was agreed but he wanted a release clause and a clause for a certain club if they came in but when the club dug their heels in, Chelsea came in.

Also watched Downie and a different twist on the Toisin transfer to what I thought but sounds plausble

I’ve been saying for awhile though that i believed that failed deal messed up our summer window

    Yeah,

According to him, if we’d got Tosin we would have then gone for a right winger, which would have been a whole different window

I was gutted when a few Toon players were allowed to leave but I never forgave Gordon Lee for letting SuperMac go to Arsenalโ€ฆโ€ฆ. ๐Ÿ™

Also gutted to lose Andy Cole but thereโ€™s many more! Hopefully those days are, mainly, behind us now!

His performances are not groundbreaking and his value has dropped. ยฃ50m max

Newcastle are ready to make a renewed attempt to sign England and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, 24, in January for around ยฃ80m. (Teamtalk)

I wonder if Eddie might think about playing Kelly on Minteh. Heโ€™s more experienced and I think a bit quicker than Hall. I rate Hall but heโ€™s still on a learning curve. Just a thought

Isak coming back in an Arsenal shirt wud have been something to look forward under Ashley.

Gordon in a Liverpool shirt, Bruno in a City shirt. Big Joe, Schar allowed to run their contracts down. Scrambling around at the bottom of the league. Going for 0-0s at home against top 10 opponents.

Looking forward to watching our superb team this afternoon. Hope Minteh has a shocker.

He is currently a poor mans Charles Insomnia

Tis true Check, I wonder if Ashley ever thinks ‘I missed a trick there’? I doubt it cos he’s a twat but a little bit of investment and running it properly commercially, but instead he decided to set us back years. Absolutely abhorrent arse hole.

Anyhoo, looking forward to a canny performance, good result, Isak, Gordon and Minteh(og) goals will do me ๐Ÿ˜€

    JT,
No, I don’t think he did. That association with a PL club put Rots Direct firmly on the global map and that’s what he wanted. Gawd knows how much that level of advertising would have cost him at Stoke or Southampton etc, it cost him foo# all here. People were always under the misconception that a successful Nufc would be better for Rots D but it was a myth. Frank’s carpets didn’t/doesn’t need fancy adverts to do what it does. It suited him to have us ran like a tat shop. He only sold up imo because he seen a Shew Wed, Derby or Coventry was coming to us and it would have wiped ยฃ200M+ off the asking price.

Jail, quite likely. He could have still increased the commercial side and promoted his crap. Was always a bit baffled why he didn’t go the whole hog and put his shitty company on the shirts too. Glad he didn’t like but shocked he didn’t.

Thought I’d entered a time warp for a moment ๐Ÿ™‚

Hoping for a good performance this afternoon

Eddie spoke well and confidently about how well training had gone …..but of course half of team were away

No matter if we get Isak back AND he is firing on all cylinders then hopefully so will team

A performance like at Everton but with some punch up front would be ok

I think Longstaff and Joelinton will start but who with in midfield ? Bruno rather than Tonali?

Defence picks itself and front 3 of Gordon,Isak and Murphy

Great to have proper footie back ๐Ÿ™‚

    JT,
Always puzzled me why he never put SD on the front of the shirt, maybe you can over saturate advertising and the money he was getting from Virgin, Wonga etc was needed for running costs.

    JT,
As for commercial revenue, I don’t think he needed it, it would have meant hiring more staff and possibly harder to syphon off in to benefiting Rots Direct or himself.

There’s another one next month. I hope the club’s revolt about this NL, it’s bloody pointless. Mind you I was talking to a Scottish lad the other day who was in favour, maybe it is good for those that might not normally make it in to the Euro’s.

Jail…Haha. I once called me Mam when she was watching the chase and told her I could tell her the answers as I was an hour ahead and she fell for it. Mind this is the woman who sends a message and says in it “let me know if you get this” so I reply “no I didn’t get it” and she can’t understand why I didn’t. This is the woman who when we were kids in the back of the car driving somewhere, my dad said “the car seems a bit low on one side” (now bear in mind he’d been doing some work on the car the day before), my mam said “did you jack the car all the way down yesterday?”… Even as kids we were astounded ๐Ÿ˜†
