Almiron, Barnes, and Livramento Start At Chelsea

Newcastle continue a very difficult stretch with a clash at Stamford Bridge. The Magpies are coming off a very disappointing 1-0 defeat against Brighton at St. James’ Park. Now the terrain gets much more difficult.

It’s back to back matches against the Blues, who come to Newcastle for the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Then it’s Arsenal at home to finish off a potentially revealing week.

Eddie Howe has been forced into changes for today’s critical fixture with Anthony Gordon out injured. Here is today’s team which has two changes from last Saturday’s defeat.

This is who Blues boss Enzo Maresca has named for the hosts.

Newcastle are in the bottom half of the table and in desperate need of a result. The Magpies just haven’t gotten fully going this term and a poor summer window may be a partial culprit.

Change can be swift in the Premier League and today holds a possibility for redemption against a Jekyll and Hyde Chelsea side. Hopefully, its Newcastle’s day with three points and a corner turned.

Howay The Lads!

I wonder if EH now regrets saying ” there’s not many players out there who could improve us”

I would take a win over the Gooners over Chelsea. Too many good teams in Cup. You just know it will be dippers away

Been out on my morning walk then cut grass ( shouild be more collecting sycamore leaves!!) and put washing out ( a new man’s work is never done) whilst listening to podcats

The one on Black and White (Chronic ) today(?) had Simon Bird on and he was interesting as usual ( I quite like the guy) with some insights into the journo’s collabrative approach to the pressers and comparing how they are run now compared to Pardhew/Rafa/Bruce

He prefered old style when the written press used to stay back and often have off record chats

Now they are all televised and there is no seperate session after cameras are gone when especially Rafa would speak for longer with just written press often reminiscing

I know what you mean but I keep hoping we canwin, get a decent draw for a change and reach semi’s

We are far too off pace for top 4 and I still feel lower placing for Europe isn’t yet beyond us but Carabao represents our best chance still of winning something

Its not beyond the realms of possibility that we win both games – it’s what we sometimes do 🙂

    Just don’t bank on it

It’s good to see that The Blog’s very own Mr Perception, Mr Sensitive has shown his true colours again. He doubtless believes that that lad responsible for the mayhem and murder in Southport should’ve been drowned at birth!

I wonder what his hero Mr Lennon’s up to at the moment? Fermenting more bile for his followers to spew out?

Apologies to you mainstreamed who understandably don’t want to see such as I’ve just posted, but it’s noticeable that nowadays been said to the cause of it.

We really should arrange a BoF (boring owld phart) meet – it’d be like Last of The Summer Wine…….

I think he will go for a strong team with Longstaff and Kelly starting and possibly Kraft

If he does who will be left out!?

Chelsea can and will make a lot of changes I suspect

    Hi everyone,
I’ve been asked by the person many of you will know as GeordieTom to pass on the sad news that his Wife after many years of illness has passed away.
Tom isn’t able to post on here anymore, but knows many of you will be saddened by this news.
His Wife has expressed her wish to wear one of her Toon shirts for her funeral as she was a mad toon supporter as so many of us are.

If you wish to leave any messages for Tom they can be sent by direct message on Discord or left on here and I’ll forward them all to Tom on your behalf.

    Kind regards,

    Bob.

Does anyone think it’s a good thing EH extending 2 x 33 year old CB’s contracts?

PM gets a lot of stick but from where I’m standing he’s just bought in a wonderkid ahead of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan and other elite clubs, while EH got Kelly in on seemingly quite high wages.

I know which one I’d prefer in charge of transfers.

Eddie does not like to sell players.
He does keep them until they have no value and then we end up having a fire sale with Anderson and Minteh.
My opinion is that both are cracking players but Minteh will be the new Toney.
How we manage to keep players like Almiron and Wilson (should have been sold a few years ago and not given contract extension) and sell Anderson and Minteh is beyond me.
Still, what do I know. ? I ain’t getting paid 10 mil to make the decisions so I must be wrong

Sad to hear of Mrs Geordie Tom’s (GT) wife passing away.

At times, GT came across as a bit of a curmudgeon but it was always clear that he adored his they’ll wife and I’m sure her death’ll have hit him like a brick. I know I’ll mean nothing to him but please pass on my good wishes at such a sad time.
