Almiron, Barnes, and Livramento Start At Chelsea

Newcastle continue a very difficult stretch with a clash at Stamford Bridge. The Magpies are coming off a very disappointing 1-0 defeat against Brighton at St. James’ Park. Now the terrain gets much more difficult.

It’s back to back matches against the Blues, who come to Newcastle for the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Then it’s Arsenal at home to finish off a potentially revealing week.

Eddie Howe has been forced into changes for today’s critical fixture with Anthony Gordon out injured. Here is today’s team which has two changes from last Saturday’s defeat.

This is who Blues boss Enzo Maresca has named for the hosts.

Newcastle are in the bottom half of the table and in desperate need of a result. The Magpies just haven’t gotten fully going this term and a poor summer window may be a partial culprit.

Change can be swift in the Premier League and today holds a possibility for redemption against a Jekyll and Hyde Chelsea side. Hopefully, its Newcastle’s day with three points and a corner turned.

Howay The Lads!

Fofana looks incredibly wreckless…the sort of wreckless that Gordon would have exploited.
I have hope in this game because Chelsea look a bit open at the back and Fofana is trying hard to be sent off

Same usual match day verbal.diarrhoea it seems from the usual suspects

Howe still has one of the best point records since he took over yet youre calling for his head, you lot have memories as short as goldfish

All teams have spells of bad form , but even then were playing a team in form, away in London who have a much bigger better squad than us, but hey spend twice as much on wages than us

    Get a grip

Steady as we go folks, after a nervy start the first 25 minutes i feel our lads are growing into the game, also the Chelsea defence looks a bit suspect, if we can keep it tight at the back i feel we can come away with at least a point today, which would be a truly tremendous result.

Our central defence looks weak but it’s not.
Chelsea midfield can run onto it because our midfield is slow

Hall player of the first half, defended well & put that ball in a position where even Isak couldn’t miss.

Bruno and Almiron have always had an understanding …Murphy is probably the better player, but the ability for almiron to get into those dangerous areas might mean he should be preferred

Barnes is better starting on the bench in my opinion. He doesn’t help much in defending and he’s a little too direct at times.

Games been relatively even I’d say. The deference between the two sides are the CB’s. Chelsea have more athleticism and won’t easily get overrun. NUFC have two slow CB’s. I’d personally swap Schar for Kelly.

A few wide balls to the wings to start and stretch their defence then punch sort balls though to Isak to run onto and score . He can get his hat trick.

    Let’s hope he’s smouldering.

We never dropped our heads when we went behind.

Kept trying to play it forward and pushing players up.

Deserved equaliser and we just need to make sure we don’t concede early second half.

We need upgrades on Pope, schar, burn, joelinton and Almiron. All not good enough for a top PL side

We are shite and that’s down to the management. No decent transfers in the summer. Wanting to spend 70m on an average defender when we could have signed a couple of decent players for that amount

Can’t believe people thinking this is Howe’s fault. Even klopp can’t make this team great. We have too many weak links but we don’t seem to replace or upgrade them
