Gordon, Hall, And Longstaff Start At Nottingham Forest

Newcastle will hope to keep momentum ahead of the international break with a result at Nottingham Forest today. A win would see the Magpies climb into the top half of the table before the break.

However, it will not be easy as Forest and local lad Elliot Anderson have had a blistering start to the campaign currently occupying the third slot in the table. A continuation of recent displays is desperately needed.

Here is the eleven Eddie Howe has selected for today’s clash which is unchanged from 1-0 win over Arsenal last weekend

Nuno Espirito Santo has named the following team for the hosts with Anderson on the bench.

This is another pivotal fixture to reshape the early stages of this season. The lads will have to be focused and disciplined today. Hopefully, they can solve their problems in front of the net with at least a couple of goals.

Howay The Lads!

    Looks good.

I am interested to see how Gordon fares as the RWF away from home. If Gordon carries on performing in that position — that’s a real problem area solved.

Easy decision for Eddie after last week.
Tonali and Barnes are proving really expensive squad players

Same side as the Arsenal game. I’m happy with that as I love to see big and little Joe both in that left of MF / wing together. Always liked them 2 together as they have so much running and good legs on them both. Tough game today but I’m confident still.

I’ve said this before but I really think today is a big day.

This match is going to finally tell us once and for all if we have turned a corner and if Eddie is our guy long term, ( I hope he is I’d never want to lose him as long as the team is playing well, especially to the likes of Mourinho).

Chelsea and Newcastle United lead this mini-league with 7 points each, demonstrating strong performances against last season’s top five teams.

I love the guy on a personal level and his attitude, we’re blessed to have such a good guy playing for us in Longstaff.

But I’m not entirely convinced about him at all as a player. Up until the last few games he’s been woeful all season, he clearly has it in his locker to play well when he wants to, and I’m still slightly concerned he’s only playing well atm because of circumstances and to try prove people wrong.

But I worry he’s going to slip back into the same old Longstaff we all know once he gets comfortable back in the team and the pressure is not on him anymore to perform.

No one wants to be more wrong than me though, because he’s the kind of guy I’d love as a person or friend.

A lot of posters scoring a point on Eddie bingo 😉
I agree Forest are a good team and will be a stiff test of how far we have progressed in the last few games. However a little overly dramatic to say Eddies job depends on the result!!!!!!

Dave 100% agree, but the problem is we haven’t played well even once away from home all season. Even last season our away form was what let us down.

Today could be the turning point. Let’s hope so.

I’d like to have seen one of the kids on the bench, perhaps Sanuzzi for Miggy.

    Murphy for Targett!

Although its good to see Targett finally back.

The balance of midfield looks so much better now with willock and longstaff. And returning Big Joe to left wing is a master stroke.
