Gordon, Hall, And Longstaff Start At Nottingham Forest

Newcastle will hope to keep momentum ahead of the international break with a result at Nottingham Forest today. A win would see the Magpies climb into the top half of the table before the break.

However, it will not be easy as Forest and local lad Elliot Anderson have had a blistering start to the campaign currently occupying the third slot in the table. A continuation of recent displays is desperately needed.

Here is the eleven Eddie Howe has selected for today’s clash which is unchanged from 1-0 win over Arsenal last weekend

Nuno Espirito Santo has named the following team for the hosts with Anderson on the bench.

This is another pivotal fixture to reshape the early stages of this season. The lads will have to be focused and disciplined today. Hopefully, they can solve their problems in front of the net with at least a couple of goals.

Howay The Lads!

Really bad news gifting them a goal.
    That’s exactly what they want.
They will sit back all day long.
Garbage Forest team. Reminds me of a Rafa team.
    How are they 3rd ffs?

The ref is crap. Yates is a dirty sod and should be off with 2 yellows.

Unless we play that high intense high press we really are not that good. Too slow in passing and moving

Forest just sit back in final 3rd. Let us have the ball and wait for a mistake. It’s gonna be hard work breaking them down.

Nobody is solely blaming the ref, calm down. Just pointing out he’s having a bad game.

We’re doing alright possession wise and getting in good positions, just need to be a bit more decisive which we’ve struggled with all season so far.

Isak switching off from the free kick cost us, other than that it’s pretty even with us edging it possession wise.

Still all to play for. Hopefully we have a bit more intensity and movement in the final third.

Yes we made the mistake of chasing that kid from Palace…I forget his name now in the summer but we’re all human,I’m sure some of those delays will be rectified in January….not the best window but it is what it is

One attempt, one goal and they’re looking to catch us on the counter.

My bet, we’ll turn it around.

PS. Why has VAR stopped doing its job? So not to interfere I guess. I’ve noticed it continues in Europe. Here, Willock kicked from behind, goes down, no penalty. Why?

Newcastle the better of the two sides.

willock the only one who’s not quite up to standards. but even that is harsh…he’s getting into good areas

I feel a goal’s coming for Newcastle ..Nottingham were tiring at the end of the half

This is a game where Tonali and Barnes need to come on and earn their transfer fees offer us something different on the ball give them a new problem

Forest have us where they want us playing in front them waiting on a mistake

On the plus side Willock has been excellent if we had similar quality in the other midfield positions on the right side we could really be cooking

Id probably bring Tonali on for Longstaff. They’re trying to mark Bruno out the game so that’d free up Tonali to dictate, or create more space for Bruno.

    someone asked is Longstaff playing

    25 passes 92% completion,
    1 tackle, 100%

    Bruno

    15 passes 100%

    Willock

    18 passes, 83%

I think Longstaff is doing just fine
