Gordon, Hall, And Kelly Start Against West Ham

Newcastle are back in action after an extended break with today’s clash against West Ham at St. James’ Park. The Magpies will hope the fortnight plus between matches will not hamper the momentum of four straight wins.

After the weekend’s action, Newcastle can climb into sixth place with a win. The Hammers have struggled this season so anything less than all the spoils would be a disappointment.

This is the side Eddie Howe has selected. It has just one change from the 3-1 win at Nottingham Forest with Lloyd Kelly in for the suspended Dan Burn. Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier are also back and available from the bench.

Here is who Julen Lopetegui has named for the visitors.

He can play all across the front line and as a main striker.

Big January to come as we need reinforcements. I can see a couple of loans with obligations being done.

Is there any limit to this mans ability to bore the living sh1t out of us about his wife, job, house, cat etc

    What a ballbag lol

Yeah it looks that way, just saw he’s played most at left wing and thought oh christ not another one haha

Like you say, sure Mitchell knows about him fairly well. Reckon if we do sign an attacker in January though, it’ll be a more established and ready to go straight into the starting 11 type of signing. Don’t think it’ll happen, but Mbeumo would be incredible.

Mbuemo would be a huge lift!

Really tough time to sign players and for reasonable deals as it’s always inflated during the winter window.

I’m sure the club will of identified possible deals. We definitely need a couple in.

    Good Morning All

Sad news indeed to hear about big John McNamee, he was my cult hero back in the day at this side of the pond when i played footy with my mates, he might not have been the most fashionable or elegant footballer, but i just loved and admired his physicality and determination to give all for the cause!!

The big lad will be fondly remembered,
    Rest in peace John lad

Mbuemo would be a good signing, but I prefer Semenya at Bmouth. Bmouth have signed some good players for a small club. And in a decent Spurs team we are seeing how good Solanke is. Tall, strong, quick and can finish. Every bit as good as Watkins. Decent fitness record too. If Guehi really wants to stay in London, then avoid like the plague, but these things need to be flushed out much earlier.

We have readers and posters from many parts of the world and that, as I mat well be, live in non-GMT time zones. Why does a post timed during your sleeping hours have to originate from within the UK?

A second and probably a trickier question for you: How are things on the jobs front? Have any of the hundreds of applications you’ve submitted received any interest from a potential employer(s)?

I’d be happy with Semenyo too as he’s definitely a very physical player and seems to work hard as well. Can see him fitting into a Howe team pretty easily.

Only thing with that, would be certain fans would probably moan about lack of ambition in the market, pointing at Howe signing another Bournemouth player and another premier league player.

Would be a good signing but would be one the fan base would likely be split on. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but can already picture some of the social media negativity around it.

My point being you’re come on in the early hrs of the morning as you do when not one soul is about to have a pop at Fenham twice and that not being good enough you pop up at just after 3am for another pop. You don’t work as you’ve said so creeping about at that time with other men on your mind is weird whichever way you sugar coat it.

Going on about me not working again 😆

My god you are a strange bloke.

From earlier – it’s strange, there’s games where we don’t seem that far off being a really good side then they are inevitably followed by one (or more) where we seem light years away ?

One or 2 well researched incoming players for key positions would make a massive step to achieving consistency

A RW and a playmaker are key but can we get the right players and when?

Whilst we wait Eddie has to find a way to make the various choices for midfield work in every game

Every time we think we’ve found the key to accomodating our best players ( recently by switching Joelinton to right) it works and then it doesn’t !

Makes me wonder is it Eddie’s over coaching for each game or simply some players have off days ( at same time)

There’s no doubt that finding a solution to the difficulties we face against low blocks is paramount and maybe better corners and free kicks are part of the answer?

A win against Palace and we’ll all.be saying – right bring on Liverpool

    It’s in our DNA 🙂

    You ask two questions:

Why have a pop at your hero and

Why do so at what, they you, seem like odd hours?

If your hero didn’t post such ego-centric tripe there’d be no reaction and

What gives you grounds to think your lifestyle (sitting on a blog all day.long) and hours define the basis for others’?

Another way to look at it, is that the next 2 games are very winnable too 🙂

Look to correct the West Ham performance with a good win against Palace and get a win, then we have a good habit of turning up against ‘top opposition’ so could surprise Liverpool.

Don’t need to look at them with a negative slant 🙂

At the risk of repeating myself. So you would rather keep someone who is running out of ideas, doesn’t know his best team after 450M, never changes formation, is overly loyal, makes weird subs etc etc, because you’re not sure who else may be available out there.

I’ll say it again who knew much about Slot or the Brighton guy. There are loads of technically better foreign coaches out there. Unfortunately I think Manu have done well to get Amorim but there are many Spanish / Portuguese / S. American coaches who I think would do well in the PL. Equally, elsewhere you have your Terzic’s, Naglesman’s etc.

I think EH is fine up to a point as he has proved but we are now a yo yo team that lacks any consistency or variety. We beat Arsenal but lose to WHU. Yes anyone can beat anyone on any given day. We’ll beat CP tomorrow and we’ll all think we’re back…..until the next time when we’re apparently ”nailed on” to win and blow it again. Zero consistency.

If we could follow city’s path while incrementally bringing in better and better technical coaches each time then that’s progress. The image of JT working on set pieces for the foreseeable is extremely depressing. Tonali and the Brazilians should be masters of tiki taka, but we can barely string 2/3 passes together. WHU embarrassed us with their 1-2’s and playing around us, while we resort to hoofball.

Rh, mund is an idiot. So is Fenham. That’s why 24 people supported my comment about him.

At this point Tonali has played more minutes in the nations league than for us. So either Eddie thinks he doesn’t suit us, or doesn’t like him.

If so why was he bought?

Because we are run by crack professionals now, or so we are told.

Another question for the Ostrich Club might be

” what criticism, if any, can be levelled at Howe”

    Realism v Ostrichism 🙂

The proposal to ban state-controlled clubs from English football has been included in the Football Governance Bill. If passed, Manchester City and Newcastle would need to change ownership to obtain a licence from the new independent regulator.

    Bollox
You can’t back date laws like that only apply them to future takeovers.

    Anyway we’re not ‘state owned’.

Daresay West Ham will have to vacate their British Government tax funded stadium. Won’t they ?
