Burn, Tonali, And Willock Start At Crystal Palace

Newcastle are coming off a poor defeat at home to West Ham as they travel to South London to face Crystal Palace. The Eagles are mired in the drop zone having tasted victory just once this campaign.

The Magpies can hopefully recapture their form from before the international break when they won four on the trot including a 3-1 win away at Nottingham Forest. A result is sorely needed after Monday’s disappointment.

This is the team Eddie Howe has named for this crucial contest. It has two changes from West Ham with Dan Burn back and Sandro Tonali in for Sean Longstaff.

Here is who Oliver Glasner has selected for the hosts.

Let’s hope the return of Burn gets Newcastle back on track. This is an important fixture with three points desperately needed.

Howay The Lads!

I’m so disappointed in Tonali, if he’s as good as we think he is then he can play in whatever position Howe puts him in even if it doesn’t suit him.

I just havent seen anything out of him since he’s been back except one really good match.

    Really expected more.

Horrible defending Liveramento. He should have never ran towards the ball and left that gaping gap in the box. We got lucky there

I love how Gordon backed right up to the advertising hoarding there taking the corner right up to the fans as much as to say you’re not intimidating me.

Have we had a shot on goal?

    Forget that. Any attempt?

    They should be ahead…

Anyway, we’re a good half bad half team, right?

Isak getting injured is not going to help that. We need both Isak & Wilson playing if we want to anywhere near the top 4

We’re just aimless, no direction, haven’t a clue what we’re doing. This is a good team, but Howe is out of ideas.

I wonder when the penny will finally drop for the cluess crowd who think he’s going to fix this after a year and a half of it, let alone win a trophy.

We can’t score this season. Another game we won’t win. Without Isak we have zero attacking threat. Can’t understand why there’s no plan b. We need some attacking reinforcements badly

Honestly I think it’s borderline schizophrenic that people are talking about even the remote possibility of us getting top 4. We haven’t a hope in hell of getting top 6 nevermind top 4.

Get in a new manager with new ideas and this team comfortably finishes top 4 next season.

Has this been our worst first half this season? Because we’ve had one or two poor ones.

    Let me think.

    Yes.

The midfield doesn’t have the legs to support a disjointed front line 3. I’m not even sure what positions tonali or Bruno are playing. Who’s the 6? All over the place

Howe is relearning the same lessons from last season?

Not sure what to make of the first half, think we have started backwards and sideways again in other words playing stale they will not shoot from outside the box which is worrying, and for people wanting howe gone who would you put in his place, maybe the end of the season the club might think howe took use as far as he can.
But on the last and this performance we are not getting Europe football next season anybody who thinks so is cuckoo.
