Newcastle face league leaders Liverpool this evening. The Reds are flying high with a nine point lead over Arsenal and Chelsea. It’s up to Eddie Howe and the lads to put a damper on their campaign.
The Magpies are coming off a couple of disappointing results. After losing at home to West Ham, a late goal at Selhurst Park cost Newcastle all the spoils over the weekend. However, under Howe Newcastle often meet the challenge against favored opposition.
A top performance will be needed to get anything against Liverpool, who have handled Newcastle capably since the takeover. Hopefully, the lads can find some form and pick up a needed result.
In other news, Newcastle have drawn Bromley at home in the third round of the FA Cup. This is a very good draw which will hopefully see the Magpies advance in the storied competition.

Honestly think this game will suit us more than playing West Ham and Palace
Some of our players at the moment have a touch of the Moussa Sissoko about them only putting in 100% when we play at home against a top 6 team
Suspect Gordon will be immense tonight up against TAA
Do worry about Liverpool’s firepower against us though Salah especially he is just on fire at the moment

I think it all depends on how the game starts. Against West Ham, those first 10 minutes or so we were on top of our game and looked truly like our top form selves. Same as the start to the second half. Then as soon as they scored, it’s like all confidence and belief drained throughout the team and effort dropped.
So if we start well tonight and avoid conceding an early goal, there’s every chance we do well and hurt them on the counter attack.
If they get an early goal, i’d be concerned, considering we let conceding to West Ham drain our confidence. Can only imagine what conceding to the runaway league leaders would do to it.

Comment #5I also have a feeling we’ll beat Liverpool tonight. Its just the way r season is going. Couple of bad performances then a stormy performances that comes out of no where. We could get a performances lik the psg one last year. One can only dream lol. Also Liverpool score alot of goals from the othere teams corners threw counter attack. I can see this surely Eddie can to. For the love of God if we do get a corner tonight and make nothing of it. Stop there players from running out the box put an arm across pull a shirt step across block them. The refs not going to book you for that so far away from your own goal. It baffles me how othere mangers haven’t caught onto it by now. They’ve b doing it for a couple of years now and have been let to do it. If they score from one of r corners tonight I’ll b fecking raging lol. But come on the Toon big performances lik the psg one and we’ll all b happy campers tonight.

Comment #6Wont get to see the game tonight as im on shift but after last weekends game it might not be a bad thing that i miss it.
I actually fancy us for a point tonight, we tend to play better against the top teams.
I am praying for 3 points against this lot, i can`t stand their owners and their greedy me me me and stop the Saudi`s attitude, it totally anti competitive.

Huge game tonight against a Liverpool team who are in red hot form, and they will be clear favourites to come away with all 3 points at a packed Saint James Park.
Which version of the Toon will enter the fray tonight is anyone`s guess,
if our performance is on a par with the last two games it could be a very long night indeed.
For my part i have a feeling the lads will step up to the plate and get something from the game tonight,
The law of averages suggest we are due a favourable result against Liverpool.
Being an optimist i`m going for a 1-1 tonight folks
And yes i`m very aware i could indeed be described as a happy clapper,
or even worse a member of that dreaded head in the sand Ostrich Club
😀 😀

Tonali was immense against Liverpool last season we lost control of the game once we took him off
Its a game where our 100k a week plus players need to stand up and be counted its the premier league under the lights against the team at the top of the table WE CAN GET A RESULT!!

yeah i agree Liverpool’s game will suit us better but no escaping the fact they are a big threat
At home our best displays have been against Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal with 2 of the games under lights and crowd up for it
Partly because they didn’t just sit back but also for what ever reason many of our team raise their games against top opposition ( yet don’t i other games!)
We owe Liverpool and it would be great to make it tonight
They can be sloppy at back ( Southampton got a couple against them recently) so we need to get at them whilst keeping door shut at back – a big ask I know
Like Magic says a 1-1 would be alright but we desperately need momemtum going into December fixtures

Thing is in a lot of games I have watched Liverpool they do give up a lot of chances but then so do we
Isak and Gordon especially have been guilty of missing pretty basic chances that if Salah or Jota was on the end of them its a goal
Diaz and Nunez are similar to our main pairing in that they are inconsistent and fluff basic chances regularly
It would seem the Forest blueprint which beat Liverpool sit deep hit them on the counter is the best way to go

I too was there to see Mac’s hat-trick. If I remember correctly, he said he couldn’t remember the third, a header – he was concussed.
What a player, especially alongside Terry Hibbett,

Comment #12My well thought out post was in the previous thread.
Now, here I am dreading the optimistic post wave and whether it’ll jinx our result tonight. What crap, as if it matters!
Then again, a reputable poster* was upset at Bruno wildly celebrating a won throw in because THAT would jinx us too!
I don’t believe in all this. Still, I’ll wear my lucky underwear (don’t got a thong, if I’m honest I’m not exactly sure what that is) and lucky pale lemon shirt, just to be on the safe side.
* NUFC Cursed, was it you? I don’t much understand these things, but if we’re already cursed aren’t we supposed to do something (weird celebrations, voodoo and the like?) to break that curse? Forgive if it’s a dumb question.

I’d like to think that those of us who can remember that day will continue to retain what brain cells we have left for a few more years to come.
Whilst I remember that match and SuperM’s goals, there’s times when remembering why I went upstairs puzzles me!

Comment #24On paper we should lose tonight as Liverpool are playing very well.
If we could try to rile Darwin Nunez -he could bite do something stupid and get sent off.
He is a volatile character and has form for jumping into the crowd and fighting with spectators, assaulting other players- usually by nutting them.
Might level things up.

Do you realise how stupid you are? Your imbecilic, juvenile posts suggest that you’re not safe to be loose on the streets. You’re a danger to yourself.
Be a good lad and do us all a favour, along with your hero, your role model Fenham, and take a holiday… a long one

Comment #26I normally tip us to win at home but not tonight.
The dippers are playing at a different level to us.
The last 10 years we have 4 points out of 45.
Since 1960 we have won twice at Anfield but 16 times at home which is more relevant. I could not dare count our points at Anfield from 50 away games but two wins and a few draws might give us double figures out of 150 points.
We normally contrive to lose to this lot and they are playing great so we need loads of luck to win.
As the dippers are my most despised team it hurts to write as I have. I would love fans to give me pelters at 9.30
