Barnes, Murphy, And Longstaff Start At Brentford

Newcastle travel to Brentford today after tallying a well-deserved point against league leaders Liverpool on Wednesday. While it’s been a rollercoaster start to the campaign, Newcastle can do themselves a lot of good with a victory over the Bees; a club they’ve had a lot of away success against recently.

This is the team Eddie Howe has selected for today’s clash. It has two changes from the midweek draw with Harvey Barnes and Sean Longstaff in for Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.

Here is the side Bees boss Thomas Frank has named.

A win should see Newcastle comfortably placed in the top ten with a platform to build upon. However, the Brentford will be eager to carve the same path for themselves. A top performance is needed to get Newcastle on track for a push for Europe.

Think that mistake and goal has woke Barnes much better from him now.

Another entertaining half but many chances not taken and also average defending.

We’re looking the better team we’re coming more into it. I still don’t think Joelinton looks switched on or focused at all however.

What a game of football just 2 teams going for it

Was cursing Barnes but his goal is exactly why we need to give him more time Gordon would fluff that chance

Murphy with 2 assists if he could actually be consistent we wouldn’t need another winger but he’s been great so far

Brentford were teetering there at the end. couldn’t cope with the pace of the game.

Newcastle the better side for vast majority of the half.

Murphy probably player of the half. two assists and doing the defensive work too

The commentator on my feed keeps calling him Mbooma, but I thought Mbuemo was probounced Mbweno.
We’ve given them two easy goals. Hall does make defensive mistakes, no doubt. But those are things that will be corrected with experience and playing time. His core skills and football mentality, such as the forward ball to Barnes who should have scored, are excellent. He has faced two of the best wide players in Mbuemo and Salah in the last two matches and they’d be a handle for anyone.

The matchday goldfish crew strike again! haha

Barnes is the worst player in the world……oh sorry my mistake!

Haha absolute divvies! seen it so many times on here, you lot are so fickle, you jump stance, flip flopping every match day, the amount of time Ive seen posters declare a player is useless only for them to score mins later on here is ridiculous, you would think you would learn by now!

The ball into Mbeumo for their first left him completely isolated against hall. All the help was late showing up and mbeumo got to that spot too easily. Sure hall needs to do better but he wasn’t alone in the fault for that goal.

Quite funny reading the blog after Barnes misplaced pass. I am not totally sure it was that bad of a pass, I would need to see it again, but it looked like he was expecting a player to come to the ball. I could be wrong.

Still… Wissa had a lot to do after that perceived error. And quite a few had Barnes’ career chalked off, and the taxi on the way.

Then he goes and scores a goal, and puts another one on a plate for Murphy who didn’t jump early enough.

    Strange ol’ game.

Central defense is our weak links. Too players without pace, each opposing attack is dangerous cause we are so slow at the back. Really hope we win this one as we need 3 points badly

It’s so so wrong when the ref blows up for offside in positions like Joelinton was in 5 minutes ago. It honestly makes me so mad. Joelinton was easily in on goal there there wasn’t a player who’d catch him within 10 yards.

from having a fantastic game at Liverpool to losing to Brentford, its simply not good enough. we are sitting mid table half way thru the season and this is a terrible result.

Just havent been good enough or turned up. simple as.

IrishRob Hall ain’t the quickest but I like him. He plays forward and tries. To me Schar and Burn ain’t fast enough for the PL. Maybe you can play one of them but two slow players in the center is suicide
