Barnes, Murphy, And Longstaff Start At Brentford

Newcastle travel to Brentford today after tallying a well-deserved point against league leaders Liverpool on Wednesday. While it’s been a rollercoaster start to the campaign, Newcastle can do themselves a lot of good with a victory over the Bees; a club they’ve had a lot of away success against recently.

This is the team Eddie Howe has selected for today’s clash. It has two changes from the midweek draw with Harvey Barnes and Sean Longstaff in for Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.

Here is the side Bees boss Thomas Frank has named.

A win should see Newcastle comfortably placed in the top ten with a platform to build upon. However, the Brentford will be eager to carve the same path for themselves. A top performance is needed to get Newcastle on track for a push for Europe.

Bad second half yesterday however you’d think by some we were playing Birmingham not Brentford who have the best home record this season and haven’t lost a game…

I think the craziest thing for us normal fans is the fact you truly believe you know what you’re talking about and speak sense.

Ashworth leaves after five just months’
Dan Ashworth has left his role as sporting director at Manchester United after just five months, according to The Athletic.

The 53-year-old’s move from Newcastle has reportedly “not worked” and his departure was agreed in a meeting at Old Traff

Jimmie the Ratcliffe is on record praising Ashworth. “Dan Ashworth is clearly one of the top sporting directors in the world,” said United’s co-owner in February. “I have no doubt he is a very capable person. He is interested in Manchester United because it’s the biggest challenge at the biggest (basket case of a ) club in the Salford (the world)

Interesting to see if Howe is backed in transfer window.
Last 2 windows we signed nothing of note.
Aspiring clubs need to be signing decent players.
Eddies hands are tied, much of the squad is same as Steve Bruce had. Would have thought we would have had more of a clean out and rebuild by now.
Wondering if the top brass never really wanted Eddie in first place and had him just to steady the ship and then will back the next manager to take us to next level.

    Sick of hearing about PSR

Karma re Ashworth, absolutely hilarious. Makes both parties look clueless. Perhaps Amorin doesn’t think he’ll gel with him and wants a DOF he can work with. Perhaps Jason Wilcox can do what Ashworth was meant to do. I suspect his lack of direct involvement in transfers has revealed him as surplus to requirements. He’s a consultant whose work can be done in 6 months, aligning departments. Glad we don’t have him now and we’re £10m better off. Football success is all about decision making, on and off the pitch.

What always got me about yourself was you cover you’re bases.

For example you’ll go about how we are going to get battered etc before a ball is kicked and if that happens you go “i told you so!” however if we win you say you knew we would and you only said we’d get beat for psychological effect so we win.

    You’re fckn crackers lad.

Exactly right, I cover my bases. You’ve never spoken a truer word.

Just like when I argue about howe out I cover my bases with facts about why he needs to go instead of living in fairyland and just blindly beating a dead horse with your head in the sand at the same time because Howe is a lovely person.

People like you are the most asinine and idiotic fans on the planet because you base your beliefs on emotions rather than facts and what’s looking at you straight in the face.

And you create emotional posts to engender arguments against other people for the popular vote rather than having an actual spine and saying how it really is.

.Howe obviously addressed two area’s that we needed to add to in the summer, a RW and a CB. Due to PSR and a failed pursuit of Guehi we got neither. All our competitors bar Liverpool spent heavily. The squad needed refreshing and it wasn’t. As everyone screamed about the sh!t show of a summer it was always going to be Howe that had to pick up the pieces. There is not a single event, that started with the Ashworth saga that can be blamed for what happened during the last window. Staveley leaving, Howe linked with England, Mitchell coming in, AG ‘head turned’ PSR nightmare, every player returning to training not knowing whether they’d be sold, Eales laying down a marker for Europe after a ‘transformative’ transfer window then not delivering. Tosin going to Chelsea scuppering plans for a marquee RW??? All of these events contributed to an unsettling summer and again, Howe is left to pick up the pieces.
Rotonda heights talks about all these top managers we could get, Spurs with a revenue twice ours got turned down by Slot, they had to settle for Ange, mate! Would anyone swap him for Howe, given the tools Howe showed he was capable of getting us CL, absolute madness to chuck him under a bus after hanging him out to dry in the summer. Luckily the owners will have more patience and understanding of the situation than those calling for his head on here.
