Newcastle return to St. James’ Park today in desperate need of a win after picking up just two points over the last four matches. The Magpies take on a Leicester City side that have beaten West Ham and drew against Brighton in their previous two matches, albeit at home.
This is the team Eddie Howe has named today. It has three changes from the disappointing defeat at Brentford last weekend with Martin Dubravka in for injured Nick Pope.

Anything but a win today would further complicate matters on Tyneside. The project has stagnated for the moment but Newcastle remain just six points from a European place.

some interesting points being made today, have we got money and if we have who should we spend it on,
one position i’d never considered needing reinforcements in, is the goalkeeping department if Dubrovnik is off to Saudi early January as much of the media is claiming do we need cover or is the Greek lad ready and good enough to get us through ??

It’s time for Mitchell to do the business.
The process has to work.
However Eddie links in to it.
It simply has to work now.

Comment #446Hibbit, I have feeling we’ll need another goalkeeper, is the Greek lad good enough? I’m not sure, time will tell. Dubravka has served us well.

It’s a complete enigma this keeper situation, if he is off then wtf is he in goals now for, the shop window maybe? And if that’s the case and he’s off, he’s not in the window anymore. So if Oddy still isn’t getting a start knowing Dubs is off, it begs the question of who goes in goal if Pope has a setback and Dubs is in Saudi?

Comment #452Looking at the footage Cuhna from Wolves is in deep trouble. Based on previous decisions the FA will have to impose at least a 12 match ban, fine of £100,000 and other measures. Wolves will be charged with failing to control players. Looks messy.

Comment #459Loch, they won’t stop until they get what they want, the same teams will play at the top, cream off all the money, while the other teams will struggle on.
They’ll make sure they keep putting obstacles in our way so we won’t get anywhere near.
Unless we get to the top sooner, then surrender for the money.

Clearly the distinguished gentleman with the platinum silver bonce mate 😉
Huge game tomorrow evening by the way, I feel a lot more hinges on this game than we know. I’d like a full blooded performance from the lads. It won’t be the walk in the park performance like we had against Leicester as that’s the most one sided game I’ve seen in a long time. What I am expecting is a good tough game where we will be victorious and onwards we go.

Bloody need to hit Brentford with an early goal and again before HT. Press, make them give the ball up and get back to not letting them beat us.

Comment #467Loch – these super league proponents will keep coming back and back – they are clearly driven by money/greed. They re-appear in a new guise all the time -same people behind it all.
The way the PL/English/UK leagues are formed is the best way and has stood the test of time – for the ordinary supporter.

If there was such a thing as a crystal ball or even blessed with hindsight, and you’d be able to know in advance if it was just a change of scenery needed for him to get back to his best, then for the reported £40M you’d be getting an absolute steal. However there’s no such thing as either and you’d be taking a massive gamble, even still his (again reported £375K pw) wages would be a stumbling block and there’s every chance he could distrupt any kind of squad harmony with his apparent attitude. On top of all that he’s quoted as telling Gary Neville on that overlap, that like AG he prefers the left wing and there’s absolutely no way I’d swap him.

For football ability I would take him as I think Howe would get it out of him
But… £40 million a snip but he would be out of our wage structure and the baggage of his moods and the disruption he could cause – NO Another but we need another goalscorer ASAP

It doesn’t matter who the coach or manager is if the players head has gone, it might not have and if it hasn’t someone is getting a steal at £40M

Comment #472Its a huge game tonight, a win and a semi final place could really kick our season off, the players need to grasp the importance of tonight , if they haven`t already.
A win tonight after a stroll against Leicester should see the Toon full of confidence going into the Ipswich game and we could end up ending the year on a real high, i bloody well hope so.
It`s my last shift tonight then im off for 17 days so it would be a huge boost to start my Xmas hols knowing the lads have secured a semi final place, it will put a big smile on my face.
We all know they are capable of beating anyone when they are in the mood, lets hope they are gagging for it tonight,

Comment #473Big win at the weekend, under the floodlights at home tonight with a chance to get to a semi-final, no excuses not to put in a full blooded and impressive display tonight. Do that, with energy, fight and intensity and the result will come.
Win tonight should get the feel good factor back and give us that much needed confidence and momentum to get on a decent run of results over the busy schedule.

Comment #474I think Rashford will go to PSG, they’re one of the very few clubs who can afford his wages and their owner has spoken of him in the past and that was when he probably would have cost £80M+, they also need a big name to replace Mbappe.
