Dubravka, Gordon, And Tonali Start Against Leicester

Newcastle return to St. James’ Park today in desperate need of a win after picking up just two points over the last four matches. The Magpies take on a Leicester City side that have beaten West Ham and drew against Brighton in their previous two matches, albeit at home.

This is the team Eddie Howe has named today. It has three changes from the disappointing defeat at Brentford last weekend with Martin Dubravka in for injured Nick Pope.

Here is who recently appointed Ruud van Nistlerooy has selected for the Foxes.

Anything but a win today would further complicate matters on Tyneside. The project has stagnated for the moment but Newcastle remain just six points from a European place.

Howay The Lads!

Hall, Isak, Bruno and Gordon were our stand out players for sure.

Big game coming up on Weds. Looks like it will be a full strength team based on the subs today.

Well that was mighty impressive. Not just the result but the way everyone played.

MOM would be a bit unfair as this was a total performance but Gordon was unplayable today. Hats off.

27 shots but we were even better than that stat!

Lovely stuff, absolutely glorious at times.
Transitions and turnovers were fantastic and quite thrilling to watch before understandably all the subs came on.

What an enigma Murphy is, he defines our inconsistency, awful or brilliant and today he was typically both!! Fair play though he got 2 assists last match too.

Very strong bench today but honestly SL should never ever start over Tonali who was fantastic again.

Was really hoping Osula would get that monkey off his back and get his first goal but not to be.

Can we play like this again v Brentford and Ipswich? Really hope so as this season really needs a sustained lift off from now on in.

Very good team performance. from min one they where on it and didn’t let the foot of the gas. Very well done to every single one of them. Thought tonali was brilliant. One touch pass all game controlled the tempo of r game. Now can wee produce that level of performance every week r near enough to it. Is the big question. All in all Very happy with the result and performance. Bring on bees.

Cracking performance from the lads. Really enjoyed watching that game, we were ruthless and that could have easily been a 6-0 7-0 result.

I thought Gordon was outstanding today as was Bruno. Young Hall is gonna be a huge star if he keeps playing like he is. Tino likewise, 2 of the best young fullbacks in the league right now and they have so much to improve further.

Well done the lads, now get some consistency going.

Best 90 mins of the season so far

The set piece goals were crucial and came at the right time it then opens the game up for us

Bruno back in the no 8/10 role need to stick with that

Happy for Murphy 2 very good finishes he’s capable just can’t be consistent but if he could do that every week we wouldn’t need a new winger

Tonali for Sean should have been from game1 of the season. Pretty abject and detrimental to results the fact Tonali hasn’t consistently started.

If Eddie ran the England team, nobody would ever break into it from his first squad selection. Puts far too much value on good lads.

Has to be the same team that started vs Liverpool from now on. Willock will need to replace Big Joe against Ipswich, unless its time for young Miley to come back in.

Hall is a great technical player. He has enough pace for the PL for sure.

But if he did create a bit more over next couple of years he cud be a world class dull back

First five minutes we were awful kept giving ball away thought oh no
But got better as game went on better finishing would have been out a sight by half time.
Agree with someone about Murphy beingg an enigma – bad good brilliant.
Yeah Leicester were poor but a thought we were a lot better at the back with Dubs in goal – makes his mind up a lot quicker than Pope
Bruno lucky he did not get booked for his stupid director a pen
Stand out players were Gordon and Hall down the left. Isak another who had a good game but has got to put these one-on-ones away.
Tonali bossed midfield – was everywhere defence attack – like to see his passing stats
    GOT to start every game!!!
