Dubravka, Gordon, And Tonali Start Against Leicester

Newcastle return to St. James’ Park today in desperate need of a win after picking up just two points over the last four matches. The Magpies take on a Leicester City side that have beaten West Ham and drew against Brighton in their previous two matches, albeit at home.

This is the team Eddie Howe has named today. It has three changes from the disappointing defeat at Brentford last weekend with Martin Dubravka in for injured Nick Pope.

Here is who recently appointed Ruud van Nistlerooy has selected for the Foxes.

Anything but a win today would further complicate matters on Tyneside. The project has stagnated for the moment but Newcastle remain just six points from a European place.

Howay The Lads!

CH I know a few seriously knowledgeable fans over here who’d agree with me. He’s great, but he’s not “close to best in world” great.

sorry just me. i hate his arrogant smug cheesy grin, lack of discipline and geeing up fans just to get them to chant Bruno. complete utter jerk in my eyes.

Good that we did that with a midfield of Bruno, Tonali and Joel. Still very much in the hunt for that much needed 5th place finish. I look at the table and our capacity and think it’s certainly on. We need some consistency obviously, but chances are in a season where we’ve lacked it so far, it’s likely coming. Need a boost in January, with Sean now reportedly available to make that happen, sadly, but a quality addition really is overdue, and the club must find a way to get it done.

Jane – all about opinions. Bruno is a good fella and cares about club. Unsure why you would hate on his character. Blessed to have him. Already has a place in the clubs history.

This selling Sean thing is weird.

Like who would have him. Think he will need to do a McTominay and go out the league. Maybe Everton or a Leicester but he is now miles away from a top prem club midfielder.

Think we have done really well selling Anderson, Minteh and hopefully Sean for dosh, all are average prem players.

Needed Targett, Miggy and Wilson gone but looks like we will struggle with Wilson now.

I’ll disagree with you on this
Bruno has ability you just don’t see as a under 10 coach

And Jane is attitude is what makes him unique

Kind of know what you mean Jane. His first half season it was all about his play that started the chants – that billion yard run to get on the end of the cross versus arsenal. When we were massive underdogs I loved seeing him work the crowd. Still love the kid though

Bruno captain – not for me – yes loves the club passionate gets the crowd on his side – but doesn’t ‘organise’ the players.
The two captains if watching today were Tonali and Trippier both I would say played in very good Champions League teams -and bring their experience – were talking and pointing to where players should be going, moving to.instead of standing still

I think Sean’s a starter at perhaps two thirds of EPL clubs. Certainly would prefer it if we could move on any or all of Wilson, Trippier, Miggy, Targett, Lascelles and a keeper instead. But I do understand. Need at least two clubs in a race to sign him though, to drive the price up, otherwise there’s little point.

If that’s true, we won’t attract much of a fee CH. I suspect though he’ll go for around 20 mill. It won’t be inflated like Minteh and Anderson, and the Greek keeper who came in the other way. Any less, it’s hard to see the point.

Not mentioned so far but BDB was immenxse today,, his covering and speed was an eye opener. Any time a gap appeared he was there.

He should be the onfield captain.

the best players shine when surrounded by equals and appear to be over rated when amongest good but not great players, so I dissagree with you munster about bruno ,i do think he s world class, we dont have 10 ther world class players ,maybe 3 or four and hopefully we ll have a few more this time next year and well start winning those games that got away from us this season. I do agree with “if he leaves” we will see what we lost…. but fk all that for now we won today HWTL.

I met Bruno at the RVI through the week & he is a tremendous bloke & a really great club ambassador imo!
I get some people don’t like the whole raring up the crowd but I also see some love it!
Anyway if you ever meet him I’m sure you will come away thinking he’s a humble, genuine guy!

After that holistic* performance, I checked the table to see how far we’ve shot up.

Was shocked to see us as you were. What the hell. But, as you know, it’s extremely tight about there.

To get an idea how we’re doing always check where the best team in the league is at (that’s still City in case you were wondering). We’re only four points away from them!

It could still go either way, but man such performances make you feel so proud of this team.

    * Like Munster says, google it suckers! 😉

    Munster my good man,
The fact that you’re even comparing them to those people puts him in that category.

For what it’s worth, I think he fits comfortably in that company. He’s that good.

I’m sure Bruno is a great guy! But I have reservations about him being our Captain. He is a very talented footballer but in my humble opinion his contribution has gone off a wee bit since his appointment as Captain.
I also feel Big Dan Burn is the best option as team Captain. Perhaps it would be better if Bruno was Club Captain but allowed S O Else to run the team on the pitch!

I’m also wondering who plays where when Botman is back?

    Last one.
Villa leading till the 87″, away to Forest.

Three points in the bag, right?

    Or maybe, one?

Well, no. 2-1 to Forest. Well done. Villa still catchable, Forest at fourth catchable too.

    Equally, maybe not.

Like I said, result or two can make a big difference this season.

    Good night.

    Enjoy the feeling.

Great performance as a team and some individuals shone even above that.

But….we need to now do this for a few games on the bounce. Build momentum as it’s no good doing this every few games but then dropping points with bad performances in-between.

Now’s the time to get a good run going as we need to make the most of the league being this tight.
