Dubravka, Gordon, And Tonali Start Against Leicester

Newcastle return to St. James’ Park today in desperate need of a win after picking up just two points over the last four matches. The Magpies take on a Leicester City side that have beaten West Ham and drew against Brighton in their previous two matches, albeit at home.

This is the team Eddie Howe has named today. It has three changes from the disappointing defeat at Brentford last weekend with Martin Dubravka in for injured Nick Pope.

Here is who recently appointed Ruud van Nistlerooy has selected for the Foxes.

Anything but a win today would further complicate matters on Tyneside. The project has stagnated for the moment but Newcastle remain just six points from a European place.

I agree wwith those who think Bruno is not captain material, i personally think tonalli would be way better ,but how the fk do you switch armbands now smoothly. I think keeping trippier as captain was the easy option, and maybe he wasnt meant to be still here had an influence on that decision ,i trully dont know thte truth of that thought, but its where we are currently at, Be ruthless Eddie and give some one more equipped the captains armband… If Bruno half as mature as he s supposed to be he ll suck it up for the team and not sulk… if not well then …either way the manager needs to be ruthless with the stars of our club if we are to progress… as great as todays win feels ..leicester were rubbish..If leicster played leicester today leicester would have lost…

Nothing the matter with Bruno being captain. He is a good player as well. The midfield 3 today were very good.

The usual whining suspects have complained about playing Tonali and Bruno together. Todays performance demonstrates how wrong they were and also reveals their lack of football savvy.

    Back to reality though

How does anyone here know how good or effective a captain Bruno really is? only the players and coaches know the answer to that, football really does have a strange affect on people’s imagination doesn’t it

How would you possibly know that though? unless there is something obvious ive missed like an argument with another players etc, then I just don’t know how anyone would possibly be privy to the conversations he has with his teammates and coaches on and off the pitch & how he conveys tactics to others.

It’s continuously amusing that people think they know the players better than Howe and his wealth of assistants and analysts, im sure Howe has picked him as Bruno for good educated reason, his job is at stake after all

CH I’ve always maintained we’d have a laugh over a pint. I’ve supported nufc since the days of alan gowling, with zero guys to bounce off because none were Toon fans. Far harder for me than for a lad in Gateshead etc.

Thing is, I won’t nag you, and you know that.

South Shields guy will. And it won’t fuggin stop.

There’s lot’s of talk about Bruno being the wrong captain choice, I’m not sure if he is or isn’t, it’s alleged it was given as some kind of reward for his commitment to the club. Whichever it is it’s going to be very hard to take it off him unless he says himself he doesn’t think it’s working out.

Good morning all, just basking in the morning sun and (temporary?) glory.

Reading up on the game I was surprised to read that we DON’T have a set piece coach. We do have a set piece analyst. Check it out in “the athletic”.

In the same column, we’re bottom in terms of number of different players scoring. Last year we were top.

    Food for thought you ask?

Nah, just enjoy the moment, kick your feet up till tomorrow morning.

“”Van Nistelrooy meanwhile has much to ponder. Perhaps significantly, at the final whistle Leicester’s manager drifted over to Miguel Almirón, an unused home substitute earmarked for a January exit, and whispered something in the ear of the initially rather startled?looking but subsequently beaming Paraguay forward.””

No doubt Louise Taylor will be proved incorrect.

Leicester proved to be a nice little starter to the main meal on Wednesday. Hopefully we have not filled up too much and can cut Brentford open with the same zest.

    7th Brighton & Hove Albion
    8th AFC Bournemouth
    9th Fulham
    10th Brentford
    11th Newcastle United

Almost as if the league table is trying to emphasise the point about where we are this season. Just one victory against any of those teams would have flipped the situation.

…front of TV Wednesday night ( God willing )

Leicester seemed to be very poor from commentary and Motd ( just got home as it started and was expec6wed be first – as if)

That performance has to be our identity regardless of opposition but got to say it was great to see us perform against a poor side

Aye there’s no substance to say it’s him however we must be looking about in anticipation of January.

January is notoriously bad for making deals so it’s going to be tough. I think we will end up with at least a couple of loans with obligations to buy.

That’s exactly what we need to freshen the squad up. We have too many good players in sane positions. The Barnes/Gordon conundrum. We have too many CM’s and not enough right wingers. We just need the right balance and a couple of signings will help with that.
