Botman, Livramento, And Murphy Start At Tottenham

After a very pleasing end to 2024, Newcastle kick of the new year with a trip to Spurs hoping to extend a transformational winning streak to six in all competitions.

As with their previous opponent, Manchester United, this could be the prime time for a trip down to Tottenham. They’ve had a dreadful time with injuries, especially at the back, and are currently 11th in the league table.

This is the side that Eddie Howe has named for today’s early fixture. It has two changes from the Man United win with Sven Botman back after ten months and in for the suspended Fabian Schar.

Here is who Ange Postecoglou has selected for the hosts.

Howay The Lads!

This is stressing me out, everything on paper says we should walk to a win in our sleep. They are literally without half their team.

If we’re switched on we will win this by 3 or 4, but if not then a shock is on the cards. Big day today for Eddie and the team.

Someone yesterday suggested a 4 -0 win for the Toon – I’ll go with that 4 -0 to the Toon.

A lot of the armchair manager brigade on here (you know the ones who really think they are real PL managers) got the Botman call wrong. As expected.

Really surprised Botman is playing. Not a good sign for Kelly. He must be 5th choice CB .
I think Spurs will score but we will score more.
2 1 to Toon. Spurs will be up for the game as they know we are playing well

Don’t think anyone/many expected Sven to start today so narrow misses all round!

Would like to see us far enough ahead just after half time to give Wee Willy a good stint.

    And 36 Minutes to KO.

We need to start real fast and try to keep it going..
We were brilliant against Man U for one half.
Then we sat back and they actually could have fluked a draw.
We cannot sit back for a whole half against Spurs. They have a decent attack

Should b getting 3points today, on paper we should, But footballs a funny old game. If we turnup lik we have this past few weeks, there only b one winner. COME ON THE TOON, isak hat-trick lol.

Aye Kelly is starting to look like an unecessry extra, it would not surprise me if he is overtaken as a squad player by some of the younguns in the not too distant future!

I suspect if we can get a few goasl ahead and are in a commanding position, Eddie will ring the changes, and specially with Sven Botman.

Well that’s pissed me off, said on my bingo selection that I thought it would be Botman but put Kelly in, twas a desperate attempt to catch Magic my nemesis by having a slightly different team to him. Lesson learned and a 2 point gap to close now 🙁

Anyhoo, great to see Botman back.

For the time being, I’m forgetting all about predictions of wins by 3 or 4. As usual I’d settle for any win today.

Hopefully I’m taking a different view at half time 🙂

We still have to turn up and get the job done today.

Or have they scored more than us, probably mind.
