Miley, Osula, And Targett Start Against Bromley

Newcastle kick off their FA Cup journey against Bromley today at St. James’ Park. The Magpies are flying high in the midst of a glorious run of 7 straight wins across the league and the league cup.

As expected Eddie Howe has made plenty of changes against League Two Bromley. Here is the side he has named which is quite strong.

This is who former NUFC goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman has selected for the Ravens.

Howay The Lads!

    Davas,
I can’t now just agree with that website as being the most accurate just because it’s more in line with my thinking but that’s deffo more like it for me.

Really don’t know what the situation is with wages.
Often hear that our annual wage bill is 190M.
That would mean the entire squad is on an average of 5M a year.
    Ish.

    Clearly it’s not.
Does that figure include what they call amortisation on the players value.
    Again not sure.

Yeah, I’ve no idea if any of them are correct or where the info has come from.

    WLtoon,
If those wage figures are correct (to be proven) I can see us creating another Miggy situation with Kelly.
Where they are paid vastly more than their age and ability dictate and will be hard to shift on for any kind of transfer fee.
It could also lead to complacency on Kellys part (depends upon his character) but certainly those players breaking through on much less than half his wage or less than a 10th? are likely scratching their heads.
I know the point of “he was on a free” but if we bought someone of his quality for say 20m, over 5 years = 4m per year, about 76K per week, we could have paid him 74k per week had someone who had a resale value and would be more attractive to other clubs because of lower wages.
If my logic is flawed – please advise.
It could be a PSR thing with no fee, but surely his wages would also factor into that?

    Dave,
Forgive my repeating it but I just can’t see a situation where they just quintipuled his wages just because he was free, they’re not idiots and it would have made him probably the third or fourth highest paid at the club at the time if not still. No foo#in way.

    Bouremouth’s new training facilities.
Benton can only be a temporary fix until we have a new purpose built state of the art Training Centre. Just hope there’s much going on in the background to deliver that option.A complete rebuild of the Gosforth park area around the race course has to be a possibility. Our owners love horse racing so combining the two seems logical. Easy access off the A1, hotel on site and potential to add to and update the wild life areas in the vicinty.
Otherwise swap Bulloksteads and the Falcons Ground for Benton – which would be good for the Universities facilities.

Chelsea have recalled Chalobah to their squad as they can’t afford to sign Guehi at the moment

Palace are going to end up selling Guehi in the summer for pennies you would imagine !!

Looking forward to going up to SJP soon.
Our next 4 are eminently winnable, but can we win 12 in a row and 9 PL in a row. They are City like stats. Let’s hope we can but I think we will stumble at least once. Barnes injury not great as it puts a load onto Gordon. Our backup is a tad light and so we need Isak, Gordon, Bruno, Tonali and big Joe playing in every match. We don’t have European matches but I fear that injuries could start to bite us. Being out for a month is a lot of matches this time of year, and we need to be still firing on all cylinders come the second leg. One match at a time then.

Its kind of a bit of a worry for me as we need to be in a good moment for Arsenal

I would wrap Isak up for one of the league games Southampton away and risk it with Osula they are rubbish so it would be a good opportunity for him to get some minutes

For me I want us to win the cup over anything this season get that monkey off our backs

A contractor, who is an Arsenal fan, came into work yesterday. We were having a bit of craic about our team etc and I mentioned the Jesus injury. He was saying that he spends most of his time in the injury room (was thinking about Wilson). He was talking about potential signings and said there were rumours of Calvert-Lewin as a stop gap. He did say he was just as injury prone. He didn’t mention Isak. That was until the end, when he said, I think we will have to wait until the summer before we sign Isak. Certain fans of the big clubs generally think they just need to say we want him, and they get him. Really annoys me that. I said it will take 150 million and Saka. He just looked at me and said you will never get Saka. 🙂

We can win next 4 but Bournemouth might be tricky.
Beat the Gunners, draw at City, beat Forest and lose at Liverpool.
That would be a hell of a run. It must surely break records for most successive wins and longest unbeaten run?
Even when we won titles we lost 9 or 10 games in a season of 38 games

    jimiley, spot on !!!
That would a a tremendous run and with Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool also having the complication of Champions League midweekers, who knows what’s possible !
If we’re in/around Champions League positions with 10 or so games to go, this team have already shown their ability to keep momentum going towards the end of a season.

    It’s all about injuries.
Our first 11 is excellent but the squad lacks quality. Dippers bring subs on and they improve the team. If we are chasing a game we bring on players who weaken the team. Those players are fine if you are defending a lead but nowhere near good enough when you are chasing a game and want goals

Tipping us for a comfortable win and then remember they will play a low block.!!
It will be a 1 nil grind or a lot of goals if we score early and they have to come out

Imagine if we beat City, Forest and Dippers. Sky is the limit. Even the dippers will start bricking it.
Big call to stay injury free.

I think Lewis was just a kick in the arse off 19 when we got him. Sorry but if anyone believes any agent is gonna let a 30+ million quid player be on 7k a week then I have some magic beans for sale.
Ref Targett, said this before on here in the past and just today over the road, originally his wage was reported in dollars, this same amount was then copied but with a pound sign instead of the dollar one.
Personally I didnt even believe the amount in dollars, why? because at the time Eddie really didn’t seem keen on signing him. What should have been a relatively simple transfer seemed very drawn out. I believe cos Eddie wasn’t keen which explains why he was barely picked even when fit at times.

None of those wage sites are 100% accurate, they can be used as a very rough guide but for some they are way out and it’s guess work. I reefer back to Hall, if it doesn’t make sense then it’s often cos it’s bollox
