Newcastle Unchanged Against Bournemouth At St. James’ Park

The Magpies are absolutely flying having won nine on the trot in all competitions. It’s Bournemouth at St. James’ Park on the docket in the early match today. The question is can Eddie Howe finally defeat his old club for Newcastle’s tenth straight win.

The Cherries have been exceptional this term under Andoni Iraola. They sit 8th in the table and defeated Newcastle earlier in the campaign. Hopefully, a raucous home crowd can push the lads to keep the winning streak alive.

Unsurprisingly, Howe has named an unchanged side today.

Here is who Andoni has selected for the visitors.

Howay The Lads!

Joey Barton was a decent enough player and leader for us and could be mildly amusing with his digs at the mackems …in every other aspect of his life he’s been scum, I’d rather he’d never been associated with us.

    Runaway
The Nurses home on the West Road was connected to the NGH (General Hospital) by an underground tunnel.
No need to commute to work in those days.
The lassies always said it was haunted and didn’t hang around going home especially at night time
Most of the General buildings have gone now, the oldest were Victorian workhouses !

Schar back in for Botman, otherwise unchanged. I accept fatigue as a reason, both physical and mental, but also I think there was one element of complacency there against a side that certainly wasn’t, and is clearly very well prepared for its matches. We’ve had a week to sort by it though, and will have needed to, because although Southampton are in poor by EPL standards they are a notch improved recently, and are of course at home. I see us winning, but we will need to be at it.

    Schar for Botman yes
Botman and Burn to similar both left footed so one is on wrong side when pass out to full back
Plus Schar has a out ball with a long pass and can carry the ball forward.
Botman and Burn very rarely use a long ball

Despite having worked at the NGH for a wee while, I hadn’t realised there used to be an underground passage to the Nurses Home. Not surprising of course! I can think of two other hospitals I have worked at with tunnels to the Nurses quarters.

    Charlie.

True. Schar brings balance to the defense, although he is not the best defender aerially, and is a progressive ball carrier.

Of course he is a bit high risk as he always likes to rush forward and try those diagonal passes along the ground that seem to get cut out a lot and spring counter attacks with him out of position. But when they come off he is creating chances.

Feel a bit for Botman as he lost so much time with the injury. In that time Burn has stepped up and is first choice on the left side of the central pairing. Not longterm but on form he deserves it. Botman did ok defensively on the right side really until Bournemouth, but you can tell it was an adjustment for him.

One thought might be that Eddie reunites the pairing of Schar and Botman at the back perhaps giving BDB a rest on the bench. He was a little wayward against Bournemouth, perhaps jaded like most of the team that day.

Bruno will need to be more forward facing to serve the frontman and JoeLinton needs to power on with more purpose and get his shooting boots on

Wonder if Barnes is back, his physicality could be useful.

    Matchday

Whilst I was getting a bit anxious at the 2 games a week catching up with us (and it did) this has been a long week 🙂

Hoping for a return to form after a break and against a poor side who although are playing a little better we should beat ….if we have sorted out last week’s malaise

It’s good that we managed to travel down yesterday so shouldn’t be unprepared

As in many games first goal is important but even if they get it we should go on to win – Southampton proved they couldn’t hold a lead after the collapse at Man U and are on a terrible run

We used to be just the medicine such teams needed to cure their ills but maybe last Saturday’s upset has made sure we won’t be that

If we play the way we can and have been doing until Bournemouth then 3 points ought to be ours but no complacency!!

    Rotation, rotation, rotation…..where possible.

    Gordon———Isak———Murphy
    Miley———Tonali———Bruno
    Targett—Botman—Schar—Trippier
    ——————Dubravka

More of the squad need to be at full match fitness and they will not there without starts.
Osula, Miggy and Sanusi will potentially need to come on to protect our important front attack line.

I know this guy and that guy and word over here in Ireland is this rumour and that rumour…

Nothing gets out of the club but the daft lad thinks it escapes the toon and England to make its way over the pond to the littler old fisherman/bullshitter 😆

The same lad champions Casey who is seen as a laughing stock to the fan base but but but he knows his onions 😆

I genuinely feel sorry for you as your life must be miserable as fck to make the stuff up you do and actually believe it.

Half the time nowadays he talks to himself.

History books state that the tunnel was dug by the nurses themselves during lunch breaks & days off once the noticed the type of blokes the pubs they frequented was attracted! 😉 😀

Majority of Eddie bingo players are going with a settled team selection. Only doubt seems to be the CD pairing.

I’m not keen on Botman on the right, if Schar is fit he starts for me. Burn keeps his place atm also.
