Newcastle are hoping to bounce back after getting trounced 4-1 by Bournemouth at St. James’ Park. Last weekend may have been one match too many after a brutal winter schedule.
A full week of preparation will hopefully be the needed ingredient to bounce straight back with a victory. The Saints are likely heading back to the Championship with just six points amassed and a lengthy losing streak.
This is the team Eddie Howe has named for today’s clash. It has one change with Fabian Schar in for Sven Botman from last weekend. Nick Pope returns to the squad with Martin Dubravka deservedly keeping his place.

Comment #721I was pondering yesterday whether Osula might get some minutes on the right as the season progresses and now that miggy has gone. This is what EH said about him:

“Will is a multi talented player as well. I don’t see him being a pure no 9. He has played wide before so that is an option we could look at””

Comment #723Strange old question why the blog is quiet.
The answer is pretty simple, Rats deserted the blog whilst the main man was in his last throws of life.
To feed their own ego. And there has been continued malevolence by a few to constantly snipe at this place.
The blog lives on, Discord will never be The Blog.

Comment #724Davas – he might get the odd 10-15 minutes if we need a goal. Unsure he will be used if a game is tight. Defending wont be his string point thats for sure.

Yeah, I wasn’t thinking of him starting or, as you say, in a tight game. More, just wondering if we were leading comfortably, to give Murphy a rest. I’m not sure he would though unless he has been doing it in training.

Our opponents have a cottage for their home and half our turnover. Easy pickings. *

Comment #727Mund I watch 90% or more of the pressers but was busy yesterday .
I was only asking for the context of the question but thanks for the attack.
Davas thanks, will have a peep.
Taylor often has something stupid to say but wasn’t sure what the context was

Unfortunately i won`t be able to see the whole game today, as i have a ticket for the GAA game between my own county Armagh, playing our fierce rivals and neighbouring county Tyrone.
I expect another very difficult encounter against Fulham, an early goal for the Toon could set the tone, it would be very advantages if we were in a commanding position score wise, early in the second half, as Eddie could rest some players for midweek.
Failing that a 1 goal victory and another 3 points in the bag would be just perfect.

Considering I said what she said in my first post I didn’t see the need to ask what she said.

On Walker Peters…
He is available on a free in the summer and that’s why I would go for him, cracking squad player and helps PSR.
He is technically excellent and is an ideal fit for the way Eddie wants our FB’s and mids to play. I’d easily rate him at £25M-£30M if he hadn’t ran his contract down.

Been a big fan of KWP since seeing him for Spurs. Would be a great signing however he’d be back up to what we have so can’t see it happening.

Comment #733I am expecting a win today by a couple of goals.
I was worried about Bmth but less so today. The players will give 100 per cent and that may not be the case just before the final against the Dippers.
Mail paper is saying we are prob going to spend two years closing a third of the ground to increase capacity by 8k. I would rather the PIF did nowt if that’s the route they are going down instead of 75k on Leazes.
Mancs are going for 100k stadium and Gunners are extending to 80k and we are looking at an extra 8k? Footin madness. At least the Popular boys won’t have to walk an extra 5 mins

Comment #734Looks like Dortmund are taking the risk on Cherki. If he can’t make it there then he’ll make it nowhere.
Same as Ben Arfa had the ability of a Ballon D’or winner but not the attitude to match

Whilst Taylor may seem to have something stupid to say and yes, having watched the presser, the question might’ve seemed odd.
LT’s a respected journalist and I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s working on something related to spying in sport. But, no matter, Eddie’s not stupid and he handled the out of context question, well – politely telling her not to ask daft questions.

Comment #737Walker Peters would be a super addition to the squad. Especially as a free. Perfect.
Would allow Tino to swap sides if Hall is having a mare. Had a breakthru season young Lewis Hall but still a touch concerned regards his speed.

Comment #745Brighton look all over the place tbh. They’re not the team they’ve been for the lasy 5 or so seasons. It used to be obvious that they had such a well-drilled system where every player knew their exact role. Now there seem to be holes in the defensive, two players going for the same ball and nobody putting their foot on the ball in midfield. Veltman looks totally out of his depth and is continually trying to handle the ball when he falls over.
All this selling and management churn has probably finally caught up with them

Comment #746Walker-Peters would be an excellent addition but apparently his old club, Spurs, are interested in him.
That’s where the offer of European football could really make a difference to a player’s destination decision.

Comment #747Bmth is the new Brighton.
They will go the same way.
The Toon will keep going. 2 or 3 quality first team buys in the summer are overdue.
A bit like this stadium announcement. Imminent last July. Rumoured to come out in March. So they already know what they will do?
Put your money on no news in March

Considering what you said in your first post (LT being a cnut and no justification for saying that), I think there was every and reasonable need to ask what she said.
Might I suggest that you put any prejudices you may have on hold and think before posting.
If you don’t understand something that’s been said, all you need to do is ask and I’m sure there’ll be enough who are willing to help you. Whether they have the time to do so is another matter.

That gives Tripps the time to sign off by us beating Arsenal before heading over there at the weekend as some say might happen ?
More likely this summer.
