Newcastle are back at St. James’ Park today with Fulham on the docket. The lads course corrected at St. Mary’s last weekend after a horror showing at home against Bournemouth.
To look at the larger picture ahead of a crucial week for the club. The Magpies have won ten of the last eleven in all competitions and will be aiming for three more points for some momentum into the second leg of the league cup semifinals.
Unsurprisingly Eddie Howe has named an unchanged team.

I take nowt for granted with these journo`s but i do think, in fact a did mention it a few days ago that a new build would be the preferred option for obvious financial reason and ile jumping over rooftops if it does happen, very exciting times to look forward to , we have had our fair share already since the new owners came in long may it continue.

Comment #724The Geordie Dentist is worth a listen lads this morning. Great message and passion from him.
For me it’s take this game as a 0-0 and tears into these cnuts from the off.
I’d love to see Joel out there to rattle a few of them

It took Spuds 3 years to build their 60k stadium and they worked practically around the clock so i think building a larger stadium in 2 years is a tad optimistic 🙂

Seen a few rumours suggesting Joelinton has a chance to play.
Would seem a tad risky though, such a physically demanding game that if he isn’t 100%, could risk longer time out. Hope we make the right decision on him tonight injury and risk wise.

Comment #727For me the stage is almost too perfect for Willock to come into the starting 11 and have an amazing game.
Been way off it recently, was awful off the bench against Fulham and sadly got some racial abuse online from ‘fans’ which is totally unacceptable.
The stage couldn’t be set more perfectly for him to shut everyone up and put us through to the final.

Comment #728Massive game tonight everyone.
I am nervous already. I don’t know why I do it to myself. I just don’t enjoy the pressure.
Hopefully the team that played in the first leg show up and not the one against Bournemouth or Fulham.

Comment #729There are also bound to be planning issues unless the government can stir their asses and wave it through. Perhaps they have been trying to sort that behind the scenes before making an announcement.
Jail, all fans tonight will be anxious and Arsenal will know that. It’s what back to back home defeats does. We will just have to drink our way through it. Turn SJP into a rabid bear pit!

Aye I know it seems unlikely, would be delighted for Willock if it happened though. Feels like he needs a big moment to get his confidence and swagger back. We all knows he’s a much better player than what we’ve seen so far this season.

depends on how many construction companies work on it though, fair enough there will be a lot of concrete jobs to be done along with steel works, I think its very possible to do in 18 months to 2 years
clearing the ground is the easiest part, building the foundations ect ect takes time yes but if everything is there to build it, then it shouldnt take so long to complete

I totally agree. Play this game as if it’s at 0-0, or else we’ll be thinking hold and hold, we’re leading 2-0. And we’ll get pummeled
But, it’s hard to pretend you don’t know the score, if you’re a player.
I think that’ll be the pattern. Arsenal attacking, NUFC defending.
Hoping we hit them on the counter because you can bet they’ll score.

No harm if they score.:)
As long as it’s only one goal difference.
Would you take a 2-1 loss? Of course you would :).
I’m expecting a right battle, they’ll be up for it and with their tails up, following the City demolition.
Thing is, we’ll be up for it too I think.
Now, will we score? I think so.
If I was a betting man, most likely score 1-3. Which I’d hate to experience even if we made it through on pens.
I’d rather it’s a drab 0-0.

Comment #744No idea if is true but looks likely that Baran Y?ld?z’s transfer is going to be completed by us for the summer
Was thinking that if we got into the Europa or the Conference we would get a chance to blood some of these under 21s in group games against lesser teams
Champions league makes it harder for our squad as we won’t have the depth for sweeping changes

Thing is looking at these new rules that come in the summer we might still need to make sales even if we do qualify?
Although wages can’t rise too much so we won’t be able to splash major cash regardless unless the revenues increase !!?

Comment #749We will need some decent options on the bench for last 20 mins. I’m not sure I could handle pens.
What we’re trying to do is simply seismic. No trophy for 56 years. The cartel now hoovering up any shiny pot going with their huge wage budgets. There are about 33 teams in the football league who have won one of our major domestic trophies since we did in 55. That’s a third! So we have every right to be nervous but must not sit on our hands tonight. Thankfully our players are pros and are paid to handle this sort of pressure. Let’s just hope the RVI is not busy tonight!

Them 3 CBs, plus the 2 FBs?
Who comes off? A MF?
I think the MF will be a big battle, they have 2 of the best there. We’ll need all three of ours firing and yes, Joel is extremely important. He breaks up a lot, is intimidating and can contribute.
If Tonali, Bruno and Joel are in the mood, we won’t lose control.
Of course, the goal action is elsewhere. Tino will have his work cut out, he’ll need help.
Isak, looking to impress (just messing with you), should be up for it as well.
Gordon will be important too, but he’s becoming our most reliable player. Consistently excellent.

Comment #753And, we’ll need to be ready for their dreaded set plays, especially corners.
Actually, hats off to their coaches for excelling in those. Most teams kind of agree what to do then and there. “Should I take it or you? I’m thinking I’ll go near post, see what happens.”
Whereas, all their players are involved. Blocking keeper, faking runs, freeing up someone.
So, is this an admires the axxxs post?
No, it’s a “beware” one. Especially you Dubravka son. Try not to get blocked off on your line. Come out a bit when the ball is floating right on top of your head.

Wonder if Botman will return to the line-up to help deal with their set pieces. Feel he’s better defensively in the air that Schar.

Their corners are pure choreography with everyone on the move, especially from the back post whilst defenders are focused on looking at the corner delivery.

On planning permission or permission from LA and Freeman, my view and it is only a view, is that this must have been discussed to allow what I hope is a new stadium using part of Leezers Park to even be put forward as an option.
Unless all the parties are open to the idea at least, the club would shooting itself in the foot offering this as an option.
Yes I think some of the delay will have been down to positioning everyone and selling the dream?
This is not to say we will not have a surge of complaints from dog walkers if that option is chosen, but the pre PR work I would assume has already been looked into and the regenerative plans ready to temper their outrage – well it is my hope anyway.
