After reaching the League Cup final, Newcastle will try to advance in the FA Cup as they take on Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s this afternoon. The recently relegated Blues are on a strong run topping League One in a bid to get straight back to the Championship.
This is who Eddie Howe has selected for today’s match.

Comment #802At least the Leicester game is on TNT which has less bias commentary than We cream over the red cartel Sky crew.
Oh shit, just realised Martin Keown is there, oh well.

Comment #803Well done to Regan for putting out that apology to the Bard. There was a misunderstanding and he went too far with a comment, but once he knew all the facts he was quick to apologise, and it was genuine. That’s how it should be on here.

Comment #804In terms of the ticket allocation process for the final.
I had to forward my Wimbledon ticket on, but was lucky to get an away ticket at Arsenal. So I’d been to 4 matches, lucky me. But the club should have made this clear when we all signed up to both cup schemes. Brighton in the fa cup. I live near London but the trains are fecked that weekend and I don’t want to drive. So do I forward my ticket on via the club, and risk that match not counting in my favour, or email the ticket they send me to a friend. They get to see the game, I increase my chances of a Wembley ticket. Can they stop me doing that? Will they spot check digital tickets to details on their system? Fans will now be working around the system.

I can honestly say I’ve no idea what this means for us.
Is there anything out there that’s conclusive on the matter?

Comment #807Well at least Keown isn`t on the commentary team, and fook for that.
I`ll turn the half time analysis off while he is rabbiting on about the Arse`s first half display

Comment #808So do we stick or twist?
It seems that although the pre 2024 APT rules are now legally dead the post 2024 rules are being enacted by the PL and it will be the next legal challenge from MC that will judge if they are valid.
We can now see why Masters rushed through the new rules in objection to MC.
So we now may well have an indicator why our sponsorship dept. has been running in 1st gear, the question is do we still hold back until the latest case is settled, with the potential of the PL rushing through yet more APT rules if it looks as if they are going to lose, or do we agree deals that would look bad deals if all APT rules were swept away?
I have no ITK or knowledge of any kind but it opens up questions on all sorts of things including the new stadium decision time, training ground renaming and all sorts of things.
It is almost as if we are in a self imposed limbo?

Comment #809onmeedsun @802 Even for the home cup games in future we’ll keep the ticket email and only download it on the day so if for some reason we can’t go then we can forward the email to a friend or relative – as you know they never check ID at SJP.

My take the old APT rules have been ruled illegal, the new APT rules that Masters rushed through last year are not affected by the latest ruling but a further legal challenge in the pipeline from MC is set to determine their legality.
As of now the only thing I can see that has changed is that clubs could now sue the PL if they can proved they lost out because of the original APT rules.
Personally I do not see our owners going down this route as they need to be squeaky clean and not seen to rock the boat or all hell from our media will follow.
MC now get away with it because they are no longer in the firing line, we are.

Comment #812This with Minteh is funny it’s only taken 25GW’s to be able to crow about a performance!
He is exactly what the middle ground on here said he was, a fast, skilful but inconsistent player with a question mark over his attitude!
When he becomes as consistent as Anderson in the PL that’s the time to prove a point!
One swallow &all that! 😉

Comment #813Likely predicted team today:
Gordon—-Isak—Murphy
Willock—Tonali—Bruno
Hall—Burn—Schar—Trippier
———–Dubravka
Unless Howe surprises with a change in formation and swapping Willock for Botman/Krafth.
What will be true is Burn and Botman will need to be rotated to make sure they recover from their respective knocks, prior to the cup matches.

Don’t step back too far. Your words tend to reflect your ‘targets’ as they are and perceived by others and that’s what they don’t like – seeing themselves as others see them.

Yup, the Citeh appeal was only relevant to the rules in place up to 2024 and any changes after that, subject to challenge… by NUFC?

Comment #818For Newcastle United fans, a grand total of 2,405 unsold Carabao Cup final tickets still available (at 10.30am this morning, no doubt that number falling all the time).

Comment #825Scott he was put up as no loss to us. A few of us felt he was a potentially significant loss over time but for some they can’t handle a negative story so when he plays badly, we hear about it. So when he plays well, there is no harm in me highlighting it. We ended up in a psr panic weekend because we misjudged the finances and even Gordon came up as a sale thought. When this was highlighted people don’t like it because it seems harsh on the club and isn’t a happy story of competence. C’est la vie.
