Miley, Osula, And Wilson Start At Birmingham City

After reaching the League Cup final, Newcastle will try to advance in the FA Cup as they take on Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s this afternoon. The recently relegated Blues are on a strong run topping League One in a bid to get straight back to the Championship.

This is who Eddie Howe has selected for today’s match.

Here is who Chris Davies’ will send out for the hosts. Former Mag Grant Hanley is on the bench.

Howay The Lads!

What’s not to love about rugby players kicking lumps out of our players and injuring them while the ref does nowt?
You might think differently when we have no centre backs next game

Jail…Aye, said that yesterday. I don’t think that ball crossed the line fully and the fact the keeper went so far behind the line fooled the lino.

GWH…Good to see you posting again.

Munster’s Irish channel is called the Roker roar or the Fullwell fewmer’s where slating the toon and bigging up the oppo manager gets the most ‘likes’ 😀

    Proper cup tie they say.
    Chucking it down.
    Difficult conditions.
Not a very true roll of the ball due to surface water.
Hard to move the ball about quickly.
    Had to stick in.

    Ronny Radford goal.
Even the linesman from 66 got in on the act.

and the linesman he says yes.

While i was absolutely delighted we came out the right side of a truly magnificent FA Cup tie, i must admit that second goal for Birmingham will live long in the memory, what a ferocious shot, a real pick the bones out of that moment, Nick Pope never even moved, incidentally i thought Pope was brilliant yesterday, but no keeper on the planet would have saved that one marra.

Loch are you going to watch the Rugby today, Scotland v Ireland at Murrayfield, it should be a cracking game, a 50/50 game i would imagine.

Talking about Rugby the old enemy England had a fantastic win against the French yesterday.

Yes the goal of a lifetime.
Thought oh no not Ronnie Radford again.
Will we have to watch it during the opening of MOTD for the next 25 years.
    Thankfully not.

The Lino in 66 was Russian apparently and had lost a lot of his family in WW2.

Of course that did not affect his decision. The ball was clearly over the line.

Jimiley @163…I’m assuming that was in response at my comment. Yep I’d complain if we had no cb’s but that was a proper cup tie and I’d question anyone who didn’t enjoy that match as such. If they didn’t then maybe they’re new to cup football and cup games aren’t for them and they should stick to more gentile pastimes maybe. 😉

Might not have been pretty to watch but at least the Toon lads won the BATTLE at the Brum.
I can`t blame the Birmingham players for trying to rough up more talented PL players, it happens all of the time in cup games, but there was no reason for the ref to encourage it, which he basically did, he was fkin useless.
Good to see Willock get on the score sheet and young Osula looks like he has good potential with a good attitude.
The lasses didn`t make it through to the next round of the cup , they lost 2-0 to Palace.

Was so pleased to see Eddie rotate the team yesterday and even better that that team came through with a win, against a very physical team at a hostile away ground. A win like that really improves the squad. On Osula, didn’t watch the whole match, but whenever I’ve seen him play he seems to go a bit OTT with his leg movements. Often to the point where he can mix control the ball. I feel he just needs to slow down at key moments. But he shows real promise, can run all day and is fully committed. We could easily have lost that game but didn’t.

I’ve been checking my online NUFC account to double check how many home cup games I attended in readiness for the ticket sale for the final. I went to the Arsenal and Brentford matches and there is a note against these matches that says ‘unattended transaction’. This worries me that the club think I didn’t attend the match. Has anyone else seen this on their account?

And Manu at least should have been playing extra time and mcquire was years offside for his goal. They could have been out of the cup as well

Incidentally Willocks goal was good and the linesman flagged correctly. Just seen an image on BBC and the ball is clearly inside the woodwork and over the line.

The draw will be interesting. Let’s see who makes it and which hot balls are used
