Miley, Pope, And Willock Start Against Nottingham Forest

Newcastle’s form has dipped a bit after a rousing run of victories. They must again atone for a disappointing thrashing, this time at the hands of the reigning champions Manchester City. A win today at home against upstarts Nottingham Forest will help quell any fears of a downward spiral.

Forest have been sensational this term sitting third in the Premier League. Their ascent has been aided by former Magpies Chris Wood, Elliot Anderson, and Matz Sels in goal. They will stay third no matter today’s outcome.

A win for Newcastle will have them leap from eighth in the league table to fifth. Three points could prove vital with a trip to Anfield looming midweek before a fifth round FA Cup tie against Brighton next weekend.

This is who Eddie Howe has named for this ultra-important clash. It has a slew of changes from the drubbing at the Etihad.

Here is who Nuno Espirto Santo has selected for the visitors with Anderson returning to St. James’ Park.

Howay The Lads!

    lesh,

“All this craic about going out to injure a bindipper(s) is most unsporting.

I can vaguely remember tales of Joe Harvey giving Jimmy Scoular (a long time ago centre half) a bollocking during a half-time break. He told Scoular off for not doing his job as the No 9 he was marking wasn’t limping!”

Yes and Jimmy Scoular was indeed a hard man – built like a bloody battleship!

After two away wins against the Dippers in 50 odd attempts over 60 years, the odds against winning two away games in a fortnight against the best team in Europe must be off the charts. That won’t stop some positive fans expecting two away wins.
I would settle for a draw tonight or a narrow defeat in exchange for a win in a fortnight. What we can’t do is put in a Man City performance and get hit for six. That will really affect confidence for the final. Then the positives will be talking about a one off game.
Probable Dipper win tonight two or three one.

A decent performance tonight and no injuries would be great. If we get any points a bonus. I’d like to see if Eddie can throw slot a tactical curveball. Isak on the bench then bring him on for final 30 mins. Let Osula run around like a whirling banshee for 60 mins first.

Here is a good one for all stats fans.
Liverpool will win the league. They will not do a Kev.
When was the last time we won away against that seasons champions.
I have no idea so it cannot happen that often.
I would be impressed if somebody knows that one without looking it up

    Adam,

Seems a bit harsh. Harrison for one could I think make a good impression, along with Sanusi and Shahar. These were all recruited after keenly fought challenges with other PL clubs to get them as they were very highly rated.

Really pleased Kuol is showing glimpses now with 5 goals in 7. Maybe just a confidence issue.

What part was harsh? The original comment was suggesting Kuol to come on after 70 minutes or something.

I suggested I think he’s far off that at the moment, based on brief times i’ve seen him and only Sanusi is probably close currently, at being a sub and getting minutes in the first team at this moment in time.

We have talent for sure, but none are ready right now.

You can find crack in a wall or maybe in a defence!

Would it not be easier to move the listed buildings into Leazes Park and rebuild SJP?

The expression “crack” – gossip, banter, local news – is old Scottish and north-eastern English in origin.

Davas is on the ball with the Crack.

North of England/South of Scotland word.
It moved over the Irish sea who knows when.
They liked the word so much they gave it an arty farty spelling and tried to pretend it was theirs all along.

Strangely it seemed to go to some degree out of use in Northern England, before coming back again.

    That’s the Crack anyway.

How much have the Saudi’s put in so far.
300 mill plus the players we have bought.
1.2 billion for a brand new ground.
Still spent less than 2 billion.

Club will be worth at least that much.
    What return will they get.

It will not be measured in pounds.
The return will be all about prestige.

    The persuit of glory.

Just watched the highlights of the home game. Didn’t see the full game for some reason. Must’ve been away. A repeat of that game would be good. Looks like isak caused them loads of problems and there was some great attacking play

We get 38 opportunities every season of getting 3 points.
How many times a season do we get the chance of a trophy.
    Once if we’re very lucky.
Never under the parasite, but recently once every few years.
    Simples.

Honestly I don’t want to win this tonight. I just think even if it was possible it would absolutely kill our chances in the cup. I hope we get beaten well and surprise them in the cup final.

Might seem silly to some but that’s wgat I think works for us.
