Barnes, Dubravka, Isak, And Joelinton Start Against Brighton In The FA Cup

Newcastle face Brighton in an FA Cup fifth round tie at St. James’ Park today. The Magpies will hope to continue a second domestic cup journey with a win. Newcastle have a date at Wembley for the Carabao Cup finals against Liverpool in two weeks.

Newcastle are coming off a defeat at Anfield in mid-week. However, they were without star striker Alexander Isak who returns today along with midfielder Joelinton. Newcastle are close to being at full strength.

This is the team Eddie Howe has selected with quite a few changes.

Here is who Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has named. Yankuba Minteh gets the start at St. James’ Park.

    Mund, Munster

Well done lads, keep on disagreeing on the footie by all means, but with respect and some good-natured banter.

I know from personal experience you’re both capable of doing the banter thing without descending into personal insults, keep it on that level and more folk might feel this is a better / safer place to post.

The boys need to put on a performance on Monday.

It’s as simple as that, if we are hoping for Europe these are the difficult games we need to step up to.

I think we will, a tight victory that I hope doesn’t bring further injuries.

For what’s it’s worth, I would rest Isak and give Osula a start, he has pace and we have players who can pick him out.

    Good win for Forest.
Maybe it’s City that have to fall away more so than Forest to help our chances of CL.

    Reality is that’s what’s expected.

    Agent Cyprus reporting from Anfield.

Can we play against Liverpool at the Southampton level?

Can we play with their confidence?

    Liverpool have hardly threatened.

    And Southampton leading.

So who in your opinion was Newcastle’s greatest player?

Sadly I never saw `Wor Jackie

But in my time following Newcastle United FC

I’ve seen Excellent football players, I’ll start in the far away past

Len White a class player – I’ll never understand how he wasn’t capped by England.

Wyn Davies known as Wyn the leap! A excellent player he used to terrify opposing defenders!

Malcolm Macdonald -SuperMac – I’ll never forget his goal against Burnley in the FA Cup semi in ‘74

Les Ferdinand, A superb & powerful player – I’ll never understand Toon letting him go.

Alan Shearer No need to say anything about him his boots did the talking!

Alexander Isak – a greatly talented player who could turn out to be the all time best iras I hope he commits long term to Newcastle.

But for me Big Al is thrall time best to pull on a toon shirt.

There’s many other names I’ve not mentioned but a special mention to Gary Speed – in my opinion a very classy player.

    What’s your views?

I’m trying to take time out and keep a lower profile
But the news from the Boro and the Emerald Isle
Has brought me back onto the blog once more
As this talk of a ceasefire has shocked to the core

“Peace in our time”, could it be true?
Mund and Munster will post without any chew?
Mind there’s more chance of that, I would deduce
Than Tuffers and Lesh ever calling a truce!

Apparently Nunez should have had a red card and missed the final.
Talk is that Liverpool get into the box to increase the chance of getting penalties or to act in such a way as to force the officials to give them a decision. Playing the percentages.

Sunday we will need to prevent them and put them on the back door.

The French today were helped by a couple of yellow cards, but they were magnificent with the ball. Their winger is something else. Glides over the pitch. Grand slams really difficult these days.

Oh and i was having a brief look on discord and i see your back home in England mate, is that you back home permanently now?

How`s the form fella, on the Rugby today, we had them pinned back the first 20 minutes and they were under huge pressure, but after that they took control of the game and were worthy winners, they played with great flair and imagination, and Ireland simply couldn`t match them on the day.

I just love the rugby crowds. All mixed together, plenty of banta but no aggro. I’m gearing myself up for the final. Have my ticket and Italian booked for 12 in Soho. Let’s hope the match is equally as good as the pre match. A win would be off the charts, but at the very least I want to experience us scoring at Wembley, and not an own goal! I’d like us to be in the match right to the end, and then let’s see how the dice fall.

Ah that`s brilliant to see you are heading to the final mate, i hope your only heading to Soho for a meal 😀 😀

On a serious note it should be a truly magnificent occasion, we all know Liverpool will be red hot favourites, but football is so so unpredictable, and anything can happen on the day, it`s well past time of always being the Bridesmaid mate.

I knew it was banta mate, and in any case you were 100% spot on as we did take one hell of a beating 😀

As you know i`ve been to the Philippines myself in the past, so well aware of the weather conditions over there, i had no problem with the heat as i love the sun, it was the horrible humidity i couldn`t handle, i also experienced a few of those monsoons into the bargain.

So with you back in the Country again there is every chance of meeting up for a bevvie in the future lad.
