After a troubling run, Newcastle look to take a giant step at West Ham this evening. The Magpies were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend at home to Brighton and have dropped to ninth in the league table.
However, a win at West Ham will see Newcastle jump to sixth in the table and just two points off fourth-placed Chelsea. Though on recent form, a brave few will be banking on three points in East London today.
Nevertheless, here is the team Eddie Howe has named for this potentially critical clash.
Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Bruno (C), Joelinton, Tonali, Murphy, Barnes, Isak
This is who Graham Potter has selected for the Hammers.
Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell, Scarles, Alvarez, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Bowen (C), Kudus.

Assuming no further injuries, but I also think Willock could replace Barnes for the final if Barnes has a poor game tonight.

Comment #11Doesnāt necessarily mean Dubravka will not be used in the final. Plenty of teams have a keeper dedicated to the cup. Pope needs to play in league games to get him back up to match fitness. But it does not guarantee his place on Sunday, especially if he messes up on his left.

Comment #31We know those who endlessly blow smoke up Howe but even they must find some of his decisions truly head scratching.
Post surgery, Pope can’t dive to his left and still flaps badly at corners. As for distribution don’t get me started. Awful man management towards Dubravka who won’t now make the final after agreeing to stay.
Again playing a Dad’s army defence with 3 well into their 30’s and absolutely zero pace. Should play back 3 with WB’s or at least bring Kraft in for Schar.
Bowen and Kudus running at Trippier is a worry.
At least not 2 keepers on the bench again is a blessing.

Comment #34Just got in and seen the team sheet. I’m chuffed for Sean Neave.
I saw him play last Friday for the U21’s away to Boro (bizarrely in Tindale Crescent). First non first team game I’ve seen since lord knows when. He was taken off after an hour, and a guy close to me suggested it was to prepare him for tonight. I should have asked who he was. Obviously he’s an ITK š
The kid is a talent. To me the most composed player on the pitch. Too goood for the U18s, and clearly as good as any of the U21s. Maybe a loan move next season to toughen him up.
If you’re good enough, you’re old enough. The club must really rate him.
