After a troubling run, Newcastle look to take a giant step at West Ham this evening. The Magpies were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend at home to Brighton and have dropped to ninth in the league table.
However, a win at West Ham will see Newcastle jump to sixth in the table and just two points off fourth-placed Chelsea. Though on recent form, a brave few will be banking on three points in East London today.
Nevertheless, here is the team Eddie Howe has named for this potentially critical clash.
Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Bruno (C), Joelinton, Tonali, Murphy, Barnes, Isak
This is who Graham Potter has selected for the Hammers.
Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell, Scarles, Alvarez, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Bowen (C), Kudus.

Aye, and the sky is blue and grass is green.
I always thought the hair doo and the bandages were to take your eye away from the fact that he was unfit and over weight. Everything being relative of course.

Was it the fact that we have been suffocated by a corrupt league who would rather keep the status quo at the top every year and stop any club from wanting to grow and challenge amongst the self entitled top 6.
Was it the fact since the day we got took over the rules started to change to stop our growth to become a top challenger.
Was it the fact we had to sell players we didn’t want to sell to make sure we stayed in line with the rules.
Was it the fact that the likes of Man City went and spent 200M in January and we couldn’t spend a penny from the fear of retribution or points reduction when we are sitting on a fortune.
Some should just stop getting facts mixed up and look at the real problem that stops our growth.

Comment #37065k capacity? When Ratcliffe’s pitching for money to build 100k??
However, I’m sure our owners’ll have done their homework before investing zillions into an SJP upgrade/ new build.
Being realistic, a multi-functional 100k capacity stadium proposal makes more sense in Manchester than in Newcastle which has a smaller catchment area than the former.

Agreed on both points you made and I really should’ve beeged the question of whether a 100k stadium in Manchester be filled for all games? I doubt it and thus would the cost of building one be justified?
I think Ratcliffe’s flying kites to distract from the state his club’s in.

Comment #378Manu planning to build to accommodate 100k.
Bonfire of the vanities.
Ratty Jim just thinks they have to have the biggest cos it’s Manu and in his mind they are the biggest.
He’s not yet twigged that 100k is too big for a footy stadium and demand will rarely exceed supply, so might affect their ability to charge top dollar for tickets.
Let them build whatever they want, but not a penny of public funding for anything that generates cash for the club.
And let us build what we want, with no protracted planning bolix.
Our will have an unrivalled location, bar none.
Come on club, let’s get ours off the ground and going. What are we waiting for. Final, end of season?

Comment #379New stadium into Leazes Park seems very possible, as that’s where the gossip and chatter has been steering us all toward.
Also means that we play at SJP untilsuch time as the current Leazes end is demloised and rebuild to complete the new Gallowagte end of the new stadium.
65k capacity seems a tad light for when we play Real Madrid and the like. Perhaps there will be some innovative design that allows some added flexibility to take capacity up to £70k. Maybe an uipper tier that is shut like an eyelid for most games but which can be opened up to reveal aded seating when neated.
Leazes Park will get a massive replanting, new terrace and al fresco dining area, perhaps a new pond ( maybe like the cascading ponds at Alnwick Castle) and some sort of boulevard connecting the walk from the town to the stadium, pehaps with San Franciso style trams based on original Newcastle trams or trolley buses.
No dount a large part of the upper decks will be the Corporate boxes and dining but let’s keep the failth and ensure that true fans and next generation fans are looked after. Overseas tourists can pay for the hospitality as their tick box event.

Kluivert would be class can play anywhere in the front 3 and also as a no 10 which we badly need in the squad to offer different options
Not sure how much they would want for him which likely would rule us out

Comment #386Apparently the new stadium won’t overlap with SJP so we won’t lose any seats as its built
There’s some hoops to go through before spades in ground but hopefully It’ll happen soon
Eales has supposedly set capacity to 65k so as to always have a full attendance every game
Is it the sweet spot for NUFC ?
Maybe 70k could have been filled 99% but I’ll go with whatever has been decided
Let’s get it started soon

Has the thinking of the CEO all over it.
The US way.
Restrict supply in order to justify increased prices.
Or should I say enable higher prices.
Agreed. Folks can be strange. If they think they can’t get something they go daft for it. Make something readily available and they start to pick and choose.
Might have some built in plan for an increase at some stage down the road.
Also, these boxes might just be going to take up a lot of space.
Better keep winning as they will be the first to do one if we ever find ourselves struggling.

You could well be right at 65K.
Brighton FA Cup. We were nearly 1K short of capacity. Was that demand or Brighton sending back tkts they could not sell. Not sure, but remember thinking at the time that perhaps the frenzy for tkts might be dropping off. Live on TV and awful ko time though.
Does 65K include the corporate boxes. 120 boxes will accommodate 2 and a half thousand. Not clear and not gonna be for a while.
Pricing as well. Some of the German teams get 80K, but tkts are reasonably priced or they were.
I’ll go with whatever they decide. Must have well qualified folks on it.
Only thing is. Folks tell me they enter the ballots and get 1 tkt for every 6 applications. What does that tell us ?
Like I said though. People can be odd. Cater for demand and they start to pick their matches. Like it’s not so special any more if that makes sense.
