Barnes, Isak, And Pope Start At West Ham

After a troubling run, Newcastle look to take a giant step at West Ham this evening. The Magpies were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend at home to Brighton and have dropped to ninth in the league table.

However, a win at West Ham will see Newcastle jump to sixth in the table and just two points off fourth-placed Chelsea. Though on recent form, a brave few will be banking on three points in East London today.

Nevertheless, here is the team Eddie Howe has named for this potentially critical clash.

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Bruno (C), Joelinton, Tonali, Murphy, Barnes, Isak

This is who Graham Potter has selected for the Hammers.

Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell, Scarles, Alvarez, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Bowen (C), Kudus.

Howay The Lads!

Did Frank Brennan also have sports shop in North Shields in 60s?

Yes I believe he was in the line of uncompromising CHs like the later John McNamee and Ollie Burton – although the latter could plat a bit

As to Tuert the night before the Man City game [ went down on the day back then ) I was heading into.Newcastle with my mate who I was staying with for the night

He knew Tuert and family and as luck ( good or bad ? what do you think) would have upstairs on bus into Toon from Walker we bump into Tuerts brother

Of course we chatted and he told us that he and some family as Newcastle support Mrs were going to

…as Newcastle supporters were heading g down next day

As Dennis played fir Man City of course they wanted to support him as well so he’d settled for Dennis scoring but us winning game

Well partly came true and when we were actually back in game after Alan Gpwling has brought us back into with equaliser

Of the four finals I got to that was the one I felt we’d had a chance in but as usual wasn’t to be

    Got to.be different today

Lesh…Not really, like Geordies the Irish are a rare breed here. Don’t know any other Toon fans here to be honest and only seen tourists wearing toon tops twice in 12 years here. I can’t watch matches, especially big ones in a bar here as its generally people supporting the slimy 6 and while I love a bit of banter I will bite back if people are taking the piss and I really get protective of my team and where I’m from, overly so. The sensible thing for me is to go for a meal and a few beers (tick) and watch in the comfort of my own home.

I hope your high hopes for young Fitzegerald is fully justified mate, as it makes it so extra special when we have a fellow countryman playing in the Toon colours marra.

Frank Brennan did have a shop in Newcastle and Stan Seymour, a former NUFC director had one too, on Market Street or maybe Hood Streer.

I’m surprised when you say there’s little sign of Irish folk in Javea.

I hear what you’re saying about keeping your head down where there’s no Geordie presence to speak of. It’s galling to be at the receiving end of crap from fair-weather bindipper and ManU supporters.

Enjoy this afternoon’s tipple and fingers crossed for a good result.

Eddie can put 11 on goal line and we get one break out goal to win.
    It’s all about the result

Stan Seymour did have also have a sports shop and took it badly that Big Frank had opened a shop in opposition to him. He was not amused!

Yes big Frank was not to be messed with – he had a running battle with a certain Centre Forward from Sunderland when they played! Usually ended up with one or both of them getting booked! No prisoners taken! Although when I first started watching Newcastle I think it was a certain Bob Stokoe who was our number 5!

Let’s hope it’s our turn. We always get the best team in finals.
    It has to turn sometime.
But we will keep getting better. If not today, it will be soon

There used to be a pub on the beach between the port and the arenal called the Magpie run by 2 Geordies. Probably long gone now.

I think we will spend big and have a top team next season. One that’s going for the title. Maybe not win it but a team that can go into finals confident of winning. It’s coming
