Barnes, Isak, And Pope Start At West Ham

After a troubling run, Newcastle look to take a giant step at West Ham this evening. The Magpies were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend at home to Brighton and have dropped to ninth in the league table.

However, a win at West Ham will see Newcastle jump to sixth in the table and just two points off fourth-placed Chelsea. Though on recent form, a brave few will be banking on three points in East London today.

Nevertheless, here is the team Eddie Howe has named for this potentially critical clash.

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Bruno (C), Joelinton, Tonali, Murphy, Barnes, Isak

This is who Graham Potter has selected for the Hammers.

Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell, Scarles, Alvarez, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Bowen (C), Kudus.

Christ we’re so shit. How do we get this bad. We’re just aimless dross, hopelessly doing nothing.

West Ham crowding their own box. We need free kicks around their box and let’s get some goals that way for a change

We need to pass into the space on front of our players, not behind them. It stops the flow.

Isak getting hacked off as three missed cut backs to him.

    Barnes looks leg weary.

There’s no threat down either wing., Liveramentos got no left foot and Murphy’s missing.

Tino is just stopping at the edge of the box and the game slows to a halt.

Can we not speed up and be more instinctive.

No yellow for shoulder charge off the ball onto Bruno.

Other way round and it’s a card.

£3 on the door for the U21s now seems to be good value

This is a rubbish game, in a terrible stadium, and between 2 teams who are giving off a 0-0 end of season vibe….

Livamento needs to swap to the right
Getting into great positions but instead of crossing coming back inside
    Murphy – is he playing
    Isak – doesn’t look interested
Joelinton – best player in a Toon shirt
    Barnes – done ok
Burns and Schar – all over the place
Should of had a pen – how is holding someone’s arm when trying to go through not a pen

We are playing ok tonight without Hall and Gordon, but as PeterK3 has said Livramento has no left foot, but to be fair it`s not the lads natural position.

Will Eddie risk playing Isak the full 90 minutes, or play Wilson the second 45, as Wilson has a fantastic record of scoring against the Hammers.

The lads are working hard and giving their all…..just missing that last little pass to unlock the hammer’s defense. We got to keep up the level of effort throughout the 2nd half. Come on lads!

    Charlie, Jo best player?

Tonali best player on the field by a mile IMO.

WH look tired to me or they can’t be arsed to close down.

Yet again our final ball has been poor although we’ve dictated play but we nearly gifted them a goal when Burn and Schar went for the same ball and nearly Kudus in.

This game is there for us to win but if they score first it will change the game completely.

Lastly, Barnes has to start taking his man on, their right side is wide open and it’s falling on Tino all the time to try and exploit it.

Isak has had no service, so not his fault. Barnes doesn’t look 100% fit and Tino just doesn’t look comfortable on the left. Missing Hall badly. Not a great first half but we are still in it HWTL
