Barnes, Schar, And Willock Start Against Ipswich

Newcastle hope for a rebound today against Ipswich Town at St. James’ Park. The lads fell to Aston Villa last weekend after claiming 6 straight victories and reaching third in the Premier League table.

The match marks the return of Eddie Howe, who missed the previous three matches with pneumonia. A win in this ultra-critical fixture would thrust Newcastle back into place and in a great position with four matches remaining.

This is the team Eddie Howe has chosen with Joe Willock in for Joelinton, who misses out with a reported minor knee injury. Sven Botman also returns to the squad after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Here is who Kieran McKenna has named for Ipswich with potential summer target Liam Delap starting.

Howay The Lads!

Not just his goal but Osula looked more calm and composed than I’ve seen him before, should now be on before Wilson

6 points required for second, no amount of goals today would have achieved that.

A good win for Newcastle but Ipswich made them work hard for the victory!

Alas Carlisle drop out of the league!

Man it’s tight at the top! City and forest have easy schedules. I can see forest slipping up but not man city. If Chelsea make it they’ll have earned it. Liverpool on the day they can clinch, us, forest and can see man u showing up just to piss off a rival. Need to take care of business against Brighton and not look ahead to Chelsea. Thats the biggest game of the year outside the cup

I admit my desires for us to be second are completely at odds with the reality of the table i blame the optimistic side of my character What is not at odds with reality is the 3 goal clean sheet as we pursue champions league hwtl

Would have been nice to see Osula have the chance to run at their defence, but was never going to happen today, with the way that game played out

They only had 33 successful passes in the final third, we had 290!

Really thought it was going to be one of those days when nothing would go in for us, especially after Bruno’s disallowed goal. Was cursing the ref and saying we never get given anything but then he completely changed the game with the red card and iffy pen!!!

Really pleased for Osula, he doesn’t do tap ins does he!! Shame Bruno blocked his goal bound shot too.

Nerves are already shredded and that’s before the next 4 Cup finals!!!

    Good luck tomorrow jail.

The run in will be tough for every team involved. Easier or harder run ins are purely on paper, that won’t be the reality. On paper we shouldn’t have got anywhere near winning the league cup, the then top 4 that we beat to win it should have all beaten us on paper. On paper we should have beaten Brighton, West Ham, Fulham and Bournemouth at home but didn’t. On paper we shouldn’t have beaten Arsenal 3 times, done the double over Forest etc etc…well you get my drift 😉

Man Delap would be a brilliant signing come on man Eddie will have you as Kane’s heir apparent within two years. Surely the prospect of improving under Eddie beats the career suicide of going Yanited.

Got a weird feeling Brentford might nick something at Forest next Thurs. They can be tricky customers away from home…

Scrapped our way to a win…
Thought we had a Villa hangover first twenty minutes.
We were awful kept giving the ball away in front of our goal with passing between our centre half’s also overpassing especially Bruno.
Once we upped the tempo only one team was going to win.
Thought two full backs Tripuer and Livramentonplayed well along with Tonali.
Willock was poor -to much squabbling
Isak scored pen but looks miles away from where he was. Miley should start was class when he came on. Osula also looked decent.
    Nice to see Botman back

Crystal Palace are winning because they are playing in their home strip. Newcastle lost to Villa because they played in their third strip. white isn’t a good colour to play in.

So even a great manager like Emery can lose games against ‘lesser’ teams

The grumble-farts & goldfish crew should take note of instances like this

Even top quality managers will lose football matches against teams deemed to be below them, same goes for Howe
