Howe Names Unchanged Side At Brighton

As it stands, Newcastle are fourth in league table holding onto a Champions League place by just 2 points over Forest and Villa. Today’s match at Brighton could have massive implications by season’s end.

Newcastle must at least gain a point to ensure their continued place in the top five with Forest and Chelsea still to play. A victory could be monumental and thrust the Magpies back to third and a five point cushion over Villa.

As expected, Eddie Howe has named an unchanged team from the win over Ipswich.

Here is who Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler has selected for the visitors.

Apart from conceding that goal, we`re actually playing ok , we just need to improve that final pass in the final third.

We started reasonably well but as soon as Brighton realised all you need to do is press us and we can’t cope with it the game has changed

Isak not being able to hold it up or win a header effects us in games like this away from home the ball just keeps coming back at us

Baleba looks class though would love to sign him

Terrible first half especially in the forward third where we have created nothing. I would bring on Gordon for Barnes at HT

This has looked like the kind of game you sleep walk through to wake up and say, what happened?

They’ve had one attempt, scored it.

We’ve had more, but largely ineffective.

Best evidence? Isak’s hardly been involved.

Like they say, it’s all about the next goal.

    Snap out of it lads!

Most likely the best we have played down there but that wouldn’t take much. Plenty of the ball final pass poor don’t look like we are going to score. Miteh’s goal why didn’t Burnface up to the shot instead of turning his back.

Isaks form at the season end and big Joes absence might cost us big time over the next 4 games.

    Charlie,
It was Tonali who turned his back. Good shimmy by our “reject”, credit where it’s due.

    Desperate performance.

Isak can’t be fit. Nightmares from our key players.

And the know alls were wrong on Minteh. Obviously.

Someone wants to take out minteh after what he done in front of our supporters
Isak has done nothing in 4 game I no what you will say yes he could score a goal but his over all performance is shit at present Bruno and tonali aren’t having a good game too, Eddie’s needs to change a few things get us back in this game I would bring Gordon and osula on who is hunger for game time.

I think we are witnessing the downside of playing the same 11 in the same formation for so many games, albeit with Willock instead of Joelinton.
We’re entirely predictable and they’re entirely prepared for us. Isak and Bruno in particular have been in the pockets of Brighton players.
All the play for and second half still though

We have been slightly the better team imo

Ofcourse we haven’t tested their goalkeeper much but either have they, half of football is about containing the other team which both teams are doing well, jsut one of those games

Ofcourse the usual will think it’s the end of the world, but the 2nd half could be a totally different game and we could easily turn it around

    Have faith ‘supporters’

A player of Isaks ability should not allow himself to be shut out so easily. He is jogging around like Wilson

Asking if Isak is playing is more about how we wre attacking. We struggle to get him the ball in good places.

We predictably isolate him too much at times and their CBs and DM camp on him.

As people here already said need to move the ball faster and not try to overpass in final third.

Also woefully corner again early on by trippier. Lob it in to Burn. Again predictable.

Lots of time to turn it around. Need to fire it up.

    Howay the Lads!

    Very lacklustre and little energy.
Looks like we expected to easily contain them and pick them off but it’s been the other way round.

Crossing ineffective, they’ve crowded out cut backs.

Murphy and Isak need to increase the tempo.
I’d get Osula on as he’s got the physicality to shake up their defence.

If you watch again he beats Tonali then shoots but Burn turns his head and body away from the ball

Alot of us expect this team to walk through opposition that usually we struggle to impose our game on , like Brighton for example, but we are capable of getting something from this game , let’s see how Eddie works his magic today

I think to get the most out of Isak we need a no 10 especially away from home the gap with him and the midfield is massive with no one anywhere near to support him

Then we pump crosses into the box which he is unlikely to win in the air its not really his game

Chasing a champions league spot and to go out and give that performance first half is a disgrace, fook me Brighton r on the beach and letting us have the ball, and we’re to toothless and flat to do anything about it, come on Eddie get the hairdryer out at hlf time.

Baleba is the Joelinton replacement we should be looking for

Such a powerhouse with amazing technique he would be perfect for us been loving him all season

Although they signed him for 25 million so likely too expensive
