Howe Names Unchanged Side At Brighton

As it stands, Newcastle are fourth in league table holding onto a Champions League place by just 2 points over Forest and Villa. Today’s match at Brighton could have massive implications by season’s end.

Newcastle must at least gain a point to ensure their continued place in the top five with Forest and Chelsea still to play. A victory could be monumental and thrust the Magpies back to third and a five point cushion over Villa.

As expected, Eddie Howe has named an unchanged team from the win over Ipswich.

Here is who Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler has selected for the visitors.

    Matchday

….and the first one in a while when I’ve the opportunity to be there thanks to Bill’s son just hope I’m not a jinx 🙂

I’ve posted yesterday that I’m leaning towards there being at least 1 change with Gotdon starting and i still feel at Barnes’ expense but he will figure off bench

I also wondered whether Joelinton freshly injected on Barcelona might be a surprise starter- if that’s all fanciful then it’ll be Willock again

If the detective work by Jail via FFL isn’t actually fantasy then if Tripps is out it’s Krafth for me at RB

Eddie , coaches , players and all of us know that since Carabao Cup this is our next final. It requires our best available 11 to start with sentiment and even recent form having to be set aside

They know what is at stake and it’s supposedly what every player, especially our elites want – Champions League!! So let’s show it by team and individual performances putting aside any disappointment if rested

OK the same message will apply to next game and one after that because as Eddie has acknowledged we’ve been in a series of Finals on this run in but it’s about Chelsea today and that’s our only focus

We were poor down there last October but turned it around convincingly within a,few days in Carabo cup game here so let’s do same

Chelsea need CL and will be up for it. They have a big squad so their Europa League game on Thursday won’t affect their team choice but won’t have helped preparations hopefully

I’m worried about keeping a clean sheet but back us to score at least 1 more than them

It’s in our hands on the run in and despite a 12 noon KO let’s make SJP an unwelcoming place for them and roar us on in one of Chelsea” s least favourite grounds

I hear what Check is saying and don’t disagree but right now I’m of the mind we are getting CL and that’s it

    Morning folks,
Slept OK considering. Keep looking at the league table and the permutations, I’ve seen win the two home games and we’re home and dry, I’ve looked and looked and I think that’s right, unless Villa won both games 5-0 and we got battered at Arsenal, Aye two wins is enough.

12 o clock kick off. It’s bad for us but footin hell, nobody thought about Chelsea fans.
We are normally crap at early games but we have to hope Chelsea are still in bed.
The fans are usually still in bed as well. We need them at their loudest.
Must not lose game because the others keep winning. Draw is not the end of world but we need something from Arsenal.
Europa is still a great result. We can qualify CL by winning it. Europa and league title sounds good to me. We won’t win the league playing CL. Domestic cup is the best we can get.
We are contenders for the league next season if we avoid CL. But we need the cash and the draw of CL.
I can see positives whether we qualify or not

    Good Morning All

So here we are facing into another huge game of fundamental importance, the stakes could not be higher!!

On todays game i would say i was feeling cautiously optimistic, had Joelinton been available i would be a lot more optimistic to be honest.

On team selection i expect one change from the previous match, i personally would play Anthoy Gordon in left midfield instead of Willock, he has played there for Everton in the past, i just think he would pose a much bigger greater threat than Willock, both Barnes and Murphy are playing very well, i wouldn`t like to see either dropped for today, this is just my opinion for todays game, i think the one change Eddie will make today is Anthony Gordon replacing Harvey Barnes.

My prediction despite the absence of the highly influential Joelinton, i still feel fairly confident the Toon will reign supreme, and claim all 3 points in a tight match, 2-1 for the lads.

Jail…true ref Villa but we still need to finish above at least one of City, Chelsea and Forest too…think Villa would need to be looking at 7 or 8 victories too if we’d win two games even if we got humped at arsenal.
I think either way 2 wins would do it but let’s get the Hattrick just to be sure. 😀

    Tomorrow, the twelfth of May
    Is National Limerick Day
    But I’m jumping the gun
    With a warning to some
As I offer a new way to pay….
    .

When a meet was arranged who knew
It would attract but only a few
    Interest waned
    When Magic abstained
And Wor B became part of the crew…

    .
    There’s a blog meet-up once more
With a twist on the ones before
    As there’s an entrance fee
To be paid to Wor B
Who’ll collect your ten pounds at the door

But if you’re a little bit short like Mund
And can’t spare the extra ten pund
    He has a payment plan
    But mind how yer gan
Cos the interest will leave you quite stunned

It’s more than a little bit steep
And if payments you find you can’t keep
    He’ll send in the heavies
    To claim back his readies
Then Fenners will send yer to sleep

I wouldn’t be taking that chance
So I suggest that you pay in advance
    Place yer credit card
    With the Bensham Bard
Which is a far safer way to finance

    🙂
    .

    I hope you’ve a great day boys
And it’s one that each enjoys
    Celebrating a win
As you get the beers in
And making a whole lotta noise

I’ve a feeling Chelsea are going to win, weirdly I fobt feel the same about the arsenal or Everton matches but they ain’t as important. Lose this one and we’re in trouble.

I genuinely have an awful feeling, not just my superstitious shite.

I was super confident till yesterday when the realisation of no Joel hit and of course the atmosphere drag. I’m going 1-1 which would be seriously bad news.

Thing is I’d love to see us go deep.in the europa but it’s the CL that guys like Huijsen have stated they want

Wtf is going on Botman schar burn and tino all playing, please on God’s green earth dont tell me burn is on the left. I’d rather Murphy at wingback than burn on the left. Otherwise it’s 5 at the back with Murphy wingback for trips which is just as unlikely.

    This isn’t good lads

Could be 3-4-3 with that line-up… Murphy and Tino wing backs?

Pivotal game for our UCL ambitions.
An early goal would settle the nerves and ramp up the fans.
Whatever happens we can trust they’ll give their all.

Not got a good feeling about this game
It would be just like us to lose today and win at Arsenal.
Big Joe is a massive miss.
Isak needs a blinder rather than a peripheral figure. He seems to go missing in games. He has not played well for half a dozen games.
