Howe Names Unchanged Side At Brighton

As it stands, Newcastle are fourth in league table holding onto a Champions League place by just 2 points over Forest and Villa. Today’s match at Brighton could have massive implications by season’s end.

Newcastle must at least gain a point to ensure their continued place in the top five with Forest and Chelsea still to play. A victory could be monumental and thrust the Magpies back to third and a five point cushion over Villa.

As expected, Eddie Howe has named an unchanged team from the win over Ipswich.

Here is who Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler has selected for the visitors.

Howay The Lads!

Ooh christ I’ve just noticed we’re playing 5 at the back we have to be. Because willocks not there either.

Either Murphy is wingback and we’re playing 5 at back. Or schar is playing in midfield which seems less likely.

Mctoon if we’re playing 343 how can there be wingbacks?

I think you mean 532, either way I im so curious to know what he plays. It’s either Murphy or schar in midfield which seems mental or Murphy at wingback in a 532 or a 5221 which also seems probably more mental because it changes how we play drastically.

    Change in formation?
Team selection would suggest 4231 with double pivot of Tonali & Bruno. Should be interesting

    Tv saying 4 2 3 1, which doesn’t change how we play. I’m ok if it’s that

I’m not sure how on earth we’re going to get away with only 2 in midfield though..this could be an issue. We vould be great going forward but not have control of midfield which I wouldn’t be too happy about.

Looks like 4-2-3-1 with Gordon in at 10.

V interesting – presume the plan is to press the living sh*te out of them as they like to play out from the back. Burn at LB a bit of a worry ofc but he’s been immense this season so let’s not immediately jump on his back before he’s kicked a ball eh?

Newcastle XI: Pope, Livramento, Schar, Botman, Burn, Tonali, Guimaraes, Murphy, Barnes, Gordon, Isak.

Subs: Dubravka, Ruddy, Lascelles, Wilson, Krafth, Osula, Longstaff, Miley, Neave.

Bench is beginning to look stretched again

It’s definitely not 5 2 3, there will be a ginormous gap in midfield nadj.

I think BBC have it right with 4231, Burn lb, Tino rb, Gordon at no.10.

Midfield will still be a worry but there won’t be as big a gaps. We could score a lot but concede a lot
