It's Our First Birthday!

It is now exactly one year since Neil Harrison - son of the legendary Dr Ed Harrison who founded the blog in 2007 - handed the baton to me to maintain Ed's great legacy.
There is a saying; If I have seen far, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.
And that giant was Ed Harrison who, even though he had moved to the US many years ago, had never lost his passion for Newcastle United and who was good enough as a young footballer to be an apprentice at SJP in the 1950's.
Ed went on to have a very successful career away from football and was a top exec at IBM before retiring and starting NUFCBlog almost 20 years ago.
It has been a privilege for me to help keep the blog and community that he built alive and I am truly grateful for all of the help and support that all of you have given me over the past 12 months - both members and the 100's of 'lurkers' who just come to read the posts, comments and opinions on all things NUFC.
And, over the next few weeks there will be new features coming to the blog.
Again, thanks for your support - it is YOU the members and visitors who are the heartbeat that keeps the great Ed Harrison's memory alive.

Would like to add my heartiest congratulations to Colin for the sterling job he has done and all the posters and lurkers who have kept this splendid blog on the straight and narrow and not veering off into bouts of rage and dissent. It certainly is a wonderful vehicle for us to be kept up to speed with all things Toon. I wonder if Colin has any contact with Neil to find out his thoughts on how it is continuing.
Prime Minister should mind his own business. This is not government. He shouldn’t be taking sides.
If we're going to talk politics, can I let it be known I'm a left wing socialist who believes in free health care, benefits for those that deserve them, more taxes for billionaires, immigration for those that are needy or needed and loads of points for the toon!!!
