Matthias Jaissle Faces Newcastle Fans Tonight at 6.15pm – What Should They Ask Him?
Updated: 5 days ago
Our new manager will take questions from Newcastle United supporters tonight at 6.15pm in a special online event for Mags members called ‘An Evening with Matthias Jaissle’
The digital Q&A gives supporters an opportunity to hear directly from Newcastle's new head coach following a dramatic summer rebuild and an eventful start to the season.
With Jaissle still establishing his preferred team and tactical system — and Newcastle dealing with injuries, defensive concerns and a host of new young players — there is certainly plenty to ask.
So if NUFCBlog could put the questions to Jaissle tonight, what would we want answered?
1. Why Are Newcastle Conceding So Many Chances?
This has been one of the biggest concerns of the opening weeks.
Is allowing opponents so many shots simply a consequence of Newcastle adapting to Jaissle's 4231 system, or does the system need adjusting?
2. What Is Your Best Newcastle XI?
Injuries have prevented Jaissle from fielding anything close to a settled side.
But if every player were available, what would his strongest starting eleven look like – and what formation would he use?
He is unlikely to give a detailed answer, but I'd still ask the question.
3. Why Have Newcastle Struggled to Control Games?
Newcastle raced into a 2–0 lead against Hull but eventually had to fight hard for a 2–1 victory.
How does Jaissle intend to make Newcastle better at controlling matches once they get ahead?
4. Are You Concerned About Newcastle's Injuries?
Nine senior players were unavailable against Hull.
The injuries have occurred for different reasons, but is Jaissle concerned about the number of players currently unavailable, particularly those with muscular problems and does he think this may be a result of intensive training sessions?
5. What Is Newcastle's Best Midfield?
Newcastle's midfield was completely reshaped during the summer.
Where does Jaissle see Nico González, Joelinton, Lewis Miley, Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba, Joe Willock and Jacob Ramsey fitting into his long-term plans – and what combination gives Newcastle the best balance?
6. What Position Would You Strengthen in January?
Newcastle spent heavily during the summer, but reports suggest the club could still make one or two January additions.
If Jaissle could strengthen one area of the squad, where does he believe Newcastle need more quality or depth?
7. Where Do You Expect Newcastle to Be in Three Years?
Perhaps this is the most interesting question of all.
Newcastle have invested heavily in young players whose best years should still be ahead of them.
Is Jaissle building a team that he believes can eventually challenge for the Premier League title and major European trophies?
Tonight's event should give supporters an opportunity to understand exactly what Jaissle is trying to build at Newcastle and a further look into his character and personality.
He has already shown in his pressers that, like Eddie Howe before him, he plays a straight bat to searching questions and doesn't give much away, but, will he be more open with fans tonight?
What would you ask him?
If you could put just one question to Matthias Jaissle tonight, leave it in the comments below.

On a less controversial note ( or is it 😉) the new club crest for 2027/28 has been announced on club website
Without comparing the image to existing crest I'm not sure how different it is but image on site is totally back and white without no colou tinges
Its not an area I'm over-invested in and apparently has been revised with fan consultation - how much was input and how much choosing from provided options isn't clear
Looks OK to me at cursory glance but as I say its not an area of club lore that I'm much invested in
Others may approve or be appalled
Not sure if I make connection to Burnham and Man City as Loch seems to imply
He only became Mayor of Greater Manchester in 2017 which puts his tenure as starting right at the end of the period under investigation
Poorer parts of Manchester may have benefitted from Abu Dabhi benevolence but is that any different to our hopes that the Saudi's on takeover were reported in being interested in in vesting in local infrastructure - and still are in terms of a new ground and boulevards and such. Would local people and businesses be troubled?
There is absolutely nothing to link Burnham to the sham accounts and we are surely better than using a political agenda on here to…
