MY OPINION ON JAISSLE's PRESS CONFERENCE?

WATCH JAISSLE'S PRESS CONFERENCE: Newcastle United

First, Jaissle does talk well and intelligently although his demeanour has clearly been affected by knowing the team isn't performing and that he would be facing difficult media questions.

He acknowledged criticisms and concerns but emphasised that the solution is to maintain unity between himself, the coaching team and the players, and that his door is always open if players need to discuss their roles or anything else.

My view is that he isn't arrogant or stubborn; I think he is too smart not to understand that being stubborn and blinkered is not the way to solve the current problems and take Newcastle forward.

Instead, I believe he is being pragmatic that he, his coaching staff and the players, have to realise that the big changes he wants to implement in tactics and playing style will not be easy.

By the same token he clearly understands that during that process results are still massively important and that whatever is causing the current problems is having an affect on the confidence of the players to be "brave" in possession and play in the style he wants.

He rightly pointed out than when players lack confidence they often take the safe way out, and that can mean playing a long ball instead of making a controlled decision especially when under pressure.

However, I understand completely that many fans are only interested in one thing; results.

Talk, no matter how intelligent is just that, talk.

Jaissle says the players are still unified behind him, the effort and desire in training is still there, and that they also acknowledge their part in not performing to their best level.

We'll see how true all of that is when we play Fulham on Saturday.

Win and the pressure eases.

Lose and all of today's talk will count for nowt with many fans.

I respect Colin and his opinion on the managers presser but my opinion is not the same as Colin’s on his press conference performance, I certainly didn’t like the way he tried to infer he didn’t say the team had not followed instructions and the instructions were not to play long balls, he not only said those things on Monday night he said them more than once. I do agree he had dropped his arrogance tonight and that is no bad thing that he may have either listened to someone telling him it does not go down well or even have realised it himself. Either way if it continues it’s to be applauded.

As for unity time will tell. Some…

We can hit teams on the break.

We can't play possession football.

First hour against Liverpool played very well. Actually longer than that hour.

Miley and Steur in the midfield 2 of a 4/2/3/1.

Say it again. That is key. 2 genuine midfield players in that 2 of a 4/2/3/1.

His job to find a team, a balance.

Joelinton is out with injury. Ramsey suspended. At least it will be easier to choose the midfield in the Bingo.

Colin, I think your forth paragraph says it all really. He should realise that the change he is trying to implement is not working and may take too long to work. Results matter more than his reliance on somthing that may take a lot longer.

There may well be some confidence issues , but when you play a 4 2 3 1 , you have to be good enough to keep the ball in that final 3rd to be effective enough playing that way. We are not good enough up there technically as a unit. We dont have enough physicality on the flanks or skills to hold the ball . They all have to play fairly directly. Its the same with the 10 and the CF. Willock or wissa at 10. Willock is better at it than wissa , but he's not a playmaker or someone that can dictate the attack and shape it. He's a runner and a ball carrier . Osula isnt g…
