Jaissle Opens Up As Newcastle Unveil Their New Club Crest
Updated: 3 days ago
It may be the international break, but there has still been action at Newcastle United this week.
Head coach Matthias Jaissle has given supporters more insight into his plans for the team in a special online Q&A, while the club has also unveiled the new crest that will represent Newcastle for years to come.
Jaissle Happy – But Wants More
In 'An Evening With Matthias Jaissle' on Wednesday the manager told supporters he is pleased with Newcastle's start, particularly considering his coaching staff arrived late in the summer and injuries have already caused significant problems.
Nothing dramatic came out of the Q&A session with Jaissle declaring himself happy with just one defeat in the opening to the season after the limited time he and his coaching staff had to prepare the players.
He acknowledged the poor result against Leeds but described setbacks such as that as part of the development of a relatively young team.
But he also made clear that there is much more to come.
Jaissle wants Newcastle to become more dominant in possession, create more chances, and control games.
He believes supporters have already seen glimpses of the football he wants, highlighting Anthony Elanga's rapid counter-attacking goal against Liverpool as an example.
Jaissle also had an important message regarding Newcastle's younger players.
There will inevitably be poor performances and mistakes, and he urged supporters to remain patient rather than judge youngsters too quickly.
On injuries; he hopes to have important experienced players like Burn and Joelinton back soon but thinks the squad have coped well during a difficult situation.
Newcastle's New Crest
Meanwhile, Newcastle have unveiled the club's first updated crest since 1988.
At first glance, many supporters may wonder what's actually changed – and that's deliberate.
The change was made because the existing crest was too detailed for duplication in digital media.
After more than two years of consultation, 84% of supporters surveyed wanted the existing crest updated rather than completely redesigned.
The castle, black-and-white shield, hippocampi, lion, pennant and Newcastle United ribbon have therefore all survived.
But the lines, proportions and individual details have been refined to make the badge clearer on phones, television graphics, merchandise and embroidery.
Three final designs went to a supporter vote, with 27,348 fans taking part.
The winning Option C received 64.8% of first-choice votes, comfortably ahead of Option B on 19% and Option A on 16.2%.
10 More Sleeps Before Coventry
This international break has seemed to last nearly as long as a double maths lesson during our school days or counting the days to Santa coming down the chimney.
The only good thing is that it is giving our injured players plenty of time to get fit and providing Jaissle with more options right across the positions.
The downside is that players can get injured on international duty and Lewis Miley has left the England squad and is back on Tyneside for treatment - hopefully nothing major.
In other news...
Manchester City appear to be in a bit of bother.
Anybody know what that's all about? :)

Money talks, money dictates. Have the PL got any scruples?
Wor B promotions will no doubt have special deals on Cans of Scruples. 💰
With their latest comments about cutting billions of investment into the uk uae have shown how spiteful and vindictive they are as well as being cheaters and totally disrespectful to football in this country. If you bow down to bullying once the floodgates will be opened and the game we all loved will disappear. This has to be stamped out now for the sake of every fan of every club in the land or whats the point anymore.
The PL has indeed allowed itself to get caught in a right mess.
You bow to man city and let them get away with everything then whats to stop villa having "malaysian government " money pumped into sponsors , newcastle to have " saudi government " money pumped into sponsors .
For me you either have to really throw the book at man city or you have to scrap the rules all together if man city are allowed to win this.
If man city are that innocent ,why the threat of withdrawing billions of investment ? So if you punish us , we punish you ... it is indeed blackmail . Turn a blind eye and we keep giving the country money .
If anything it makes things even worse and makes them look even more guilty.
Throw the book at them and cut ties with the UAE and deal with other countries.
Irrespective of opinions on man city , the uk cannot allow a foreign body to dictate everything.
