Will Eddie Play Woltemade & Wissa?

Eddie will probably ease Wissa back into match fitness with sub appearances during the hectic Xmas schedule - but what are his plans going forward?

Does that plan involve both Woltemade and Wissa starting together and, if so, what formation will Eddie play?

It's an interesting and exciting question to ask because - if Eddie gets it right - it could transform the way we play and hugely increase our attacking and goal threat.

Whilst Big Nick has made a good start to his Toon career we all now know that his lack of pace means the days of hitting passes between the CB's for Isak to run onto are not playing to Woltemade's strengths.

That has largely removed the type of chance and goal threat pass that was wired into our mids and that will have had a knock on effect in our overall attacking strategy.

Is 352 or 4411 an option for Eddie?

It's a big change - but would it be the formation to accommodate Wissa and Woltemade?

Realistically, as a starting line up, it would have to be one of those two formations.

The issue on both formations would be who plays in the mid 4 and 5.

With a back three, to play Tino and Hall they would have to move to wing backs in a mid five, but that means no place for our traditional wingers.

The same 'no wingers' applies in a mid four unless Bruno and Tonali are paired up with one or two of our wingers - that again would be a big change in tactics and formation.

Do Wissa and Woltemade rotate?

The other option is rotation but, because the styles of the two players are so different, that could end up causing more issues than it solves.

There is always the sub option that brings both onto the pitch - but rotation and subbing means there is £55M to £69M of ST spend regularly warming the bench.

It's the type of decision making that will soon confront Eddie and I'm sure one that he has already thought about deeply.
