Booed Off By Brassed Off Fans

For the second home game in a row the SJP crowd showed their anger and frustration as Newcastle turned in a performance that had nothing to shout about - other than boo's.

The negative stats keep piling up for a team that has big problems at both ends of the pitch and very little spark and creativity in the middle.

Newcastle had 17 goal attempts against Everton but only two of those were on target, and Jaissle's side have scored just once from their past 47 shots in all competitions.

And we all know the story at the other end of the pitch; we've faced the most shots of any Premier League team this season, including 15 or more in seven of the nine top-flight matches they have played.

That is a recipe for beatings waiting to happen and last night not only did we lose, but there was none of the slightly encouraging team play we saw in the away game.

This was a dreadful performance capped off by Ramsey being shown two yellows and a red in not much more than two minutes after one bad tackle followed another.

This was a performance as flat as the unfinished beers left on the table in bars around Newcastle as fans made their way to the Cathedral on the Hill praying that we'd get a win and three points.

Their prayers weren't answered.

After the final whistle the crowd were sent off too; booing as they made their journey's back home after watching a display that was as damp as the autumn rain falling from the dark sky now hanging over Newcastle United.

Worrying Signs Of Despair

What really hit home to me about the pre-match atmosphere, last night's performanace, and the post match reaction from fans can be summed up in one word; despair.

Around the table in the bar before the game there was no confidence in a good performance or a win, during the match you could sense the lack of hope in the crowd, and the boo's and angry expletives echoed off the SJP walls as the crowd exited.

Another Gift Wrapped Goal

From a free kick we left a gap wider than the mouth of the Tyne for a simple pass to be played that left Everton in acres of space inside the box and Hornicek then allowed the shot to squirm under him leaving Barry with a tap in.

It just sums up exactly what is wrong with this Newcastle team.

Despite the "shocking" defending that got Jaissle spitting feathers after Thursday's cup game, and no doubt plenty of work in training since, the goal gifts that keep coming from this Toon team were wrapped up yet again for Everton.

Jaissle's "we have to improve" reaction in his post match presser was delivered without the confident chutzpah we saw in his early days and the question has to be asked...

Where do we go from here?

The stark fact is there are no signs of improvement. None.

Performances are getting worse and even Lewis Hall, the standout player so far this season, wasn't his usual cavalier self and the signs to me are that the players are beginning to lose faith in the quality and ability of those around them.

It was evident to me that when Sean Steur came on he was every player's first option to pass the ball to; they were almost saying "can you spark something off" because no other player before he arrived on the pitch had.

That is a worrying sign; if senior players like Dan Burn and Schar see 18 year old Steur as their best passing option when we are chasing an equaliser - what does that say about the other outfield players on the pitch?

In the bar before the game when I was trying to calm down The Mighty Wyn's son who was piping out "we are doomed, doomed I tell ya" he threw the fact at me that we were only six points above bottom placed Sunderland.

Let's see where we are at after this game was my retort.

Well..

We are still only six points off bottom and four off a relegation spot.

If Jaissle and the squad don't make some huge improvements, and pronto, that points gap won't be there for long.

Cheer yourself up by having a laugh at our Geordie Humour T Shirts :)

Cross Scott Parker off - he's been approached by his former club West Ham.

Nagelsmann might get manu - then add Carrick to the list below.

WorB has thrown his hat into the ring. Could be worth a bet at £10 a shot !

Our owners might be tempted to appoint Pep.

They need to be in the spotlight.

They can afford him.

Only 4 years to 2030.

We can’t afford to wait until January. Need a new manager now. Eddie or Frank. Then he can get things in order so that we can stave off relegation in the new year. This team is much better than their performances show. There is a reason for that. Our current manager has lost the plot and the team.

Out of that list I like that Espirito guy. He did amazing at Wolves and Forest and he plays attractive football too.

What, he's not on the list

Ok, maybe that Pep guy.
