Newcastle United could face a familiar danger at Selhurst Park this afternoon, with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta pushing for a return to the starting line-up.
The French international has recovered from a hamstring injury and scored in Palace's 2-2 Europa League draw against Besiktas on Thursday.
That could be unwelcome news for Matthias Jaissle's side.
Mateta scored twice against Newcastle in April, coming off the bench to turn the match around and secure a 2-1 victory for Palace.
With fellow Palace striker Jorgen Strand Larsen struggling with a knock, Mateta could be handed another opportunity against this afternoon.
However, similar to returning Newcastle players, Palace manager Pierre Sage has acknowledged that the striker is not yet ready to complete a full 90 minutes.
Newcastle arrive in London following disappointing defeats against Coventry City and Aston Villa, with defensive performances attracting increasing criticism.
Palace have problems of their own, having conceded five goals against Brighton in their previous Premier League outing.
Both teams desperately need a positive result, and Mateta's potential return adds another complication for Newcastle's defence.
