Round Up Of Eddie's City Press Conference

The Geordie Mongrel got it right... there were no curved ball or searching questions aimed at Eddie by the media in what was a low key and tame press conference.

On the transfer window: Questions about no signings in the window were met with the standard PSR response and Eddie said that signing players who could step straight into the first team was never seriously under consideration.

On Sandro Tonali Rumours: Eddie was asked if it was true he was offered to Arsenal and he simply replied that he couldn't really answer that because he isn't aware of everything that goes on.

However, Eddie did say that he spoke to Sandro yesterday and that he is fully committed to the club, is enjoying his time at Newcastle, and as far as Eddie is aware he is happy.

Eddie confirmed that Jamaal Lascelles has joined Leicester and praised his leadership and contribution to NUFC during his twelve years in a black and white shirt.

On injuries: Bruno and Miley won't start against City but Sven Botman is fit to play. No questions were asked, or an update given, on Jo.

On the match: Eddie lamented the late goal that gave City a 2-0 lead but he said they would go to the Etihad looking to win although he believes playing City away is the toughest of fixtures.

On the starting 11: There were no questions asked about resting players for the Brentford game on Saturday so Bingo entrants got no clues for their predictions.

So, all in all a fairly bland press conference.

I'm surprised no questions were asked about leaving Wissa and Woltemade on the bench against Liverpool, or about Big Nick's current eleven game goal drought.

An easy ride for Eddie... the media must be getting soft.

Eddie was very relaxed at presser yesterday but was given a polite easy ride by journos - which I didn't mind too much to be honest. It seemed everyone was just going through motions

Why? Probably because no one had expected a late big signing or that we are going to turn around this tie

I can't believe that Eddie can conjure up the team talk of all team talks to an injury hit squad to get them and us to final

Yes we're Newcastle with our history strewn with unexpected results but c'mon lets assess the mountain we're facing tonight

The reality is we're going to a ground where we haven't won, kept a clean sheet or scored a…

Toe Knee, Did you forget John Carver or were you trying to forget John Carver? He would get my vote every time. Also, if the system was so successful in Paris, why is Eddie so loathe to use it in the league. Surely it would be beneficial against "lesser" teams. And let me add my best wishes to Jamaal in his new quest .Always gave of his best and wore the shirt with pride. Now can someone tell me what's doing with Emil Krafth? Has hardly been sighted off Nobby's these past few seasons or has he become the godfather of crocks?

Just a point for discussion through the wee hours before the next post in the morning. If you had to pick the ‘best’ or ‘worst’ of these 4 previous managers who would it be?

Gordon Lee,

Richard Dinnis,

Bill McGarry,

Steve Bruce.

That’s if you can be bothered mind.🫤
