Top 4 & Mackem Assault Starts Tonight Against Spurs at SJP

Bothe teams go into this game equal on 18pts - just 6pts behind 4th place - but the mood in the two camps definitely isn't equal.

The Toon have hit their stride in the last two games beating Man City, thumping Everton and smashing in six goals with only one conceded.

Spurs, and their increasingly under pressure new manager Thomas Frank, are on an awful run with only one win in their last six matches - four in the Prem - and have conceded a staggering 12 goals in their last 4 games.

On paper this looks like a walkover for the Lads, but us Toon fans are too used to the skids being applied to take anything for granted.

If Spurs have any character and bottle they'll be seething at the hammerings being doled out by their highly critical fans - and desperate to get a result tonight.

So, our approach and attitude has be a carbon copy of the Man City and Everton performances - do that and a third Prem win on the bounce is well on the cards.

Top 4 awaits - and we could be just 1pt behind the Mackems

With all teams other than Arsenal having already lost at least three games - even Man City and Liverpool have lost four and six respectively - back to back wins has put us in a great position to launch an assault on the top 4.

In fact, if we win tonight and Sunderland lose at Liverpool, we'll be just one point behind the Mackems - and could be ahead or even overtake them by the time the derby is played.

Always look on the bright side of life, da, da... da, da..., da, da, da, da, da!

Ifs and buts I know, but win tonight and beat Burnley on Saturday and it's game on.

Some great news on Yoane Wissa

Thanks to Davas for posting a link where Keith Downie revealed a Toon player has said Wissa is looking "frightening" in training and smashing goals in from all angles.

Plus, he isn't going to the Afcon which means he'll hopefully, and finally, don the black and white shirt in time for the crowded and vitally important Xmas fixture list.

Let's get ready to rumble...

There will be a packed house at SJP tonight and the pubs will be heaving with the match live on Sky. The atmosphere will be boiling hot. Us fans have been short on cheer up until the last two games but we are ready to go throttle up from the KO and into full blown overdrive if we win tonight.

My usual fiver is going on a 3-0 win and it wouldn't surprise me if it was 4 or 5.

Over confident? You tell me!

Comments welcome.

Nobody is perfect, especially people moaning on a blog about a man who has brought us so far and deserves support not ridicule.

My thoughts on the problems we are seeing

Part of it is down to Eddies formation 5 at the back is inviting trouble.. I truly dislike his 433 too. We need to strengthen midfield and keep 4 at the back.

The other issue is the mentality of the players, they need to not lose their composure and focus on control 100%, it is crucial to winning games and not losing them.

Beemersarebest,

You don't have to say you want rid of him, constantly denigrating him says enough. Howe doesn't make excuses he gives his thoughts on the game. Excuses are the grass was too long, the crowd urging us to score a fourth was the reason we conceded a third, we had too many injuries, science was against us. The bloke has delivered time and time again and deserves better than the minority who keep slagging him off.

I thought we were very unlucky last night, Barnes had keeper to beat, again, Murphy also through ball, two cleared off the line and also hit the bar, these are just what I remember etc.. The ball did not bounce our way last night, just one of those days, against Everton things ran in our favour imo, also, I thought Spurs were very poor, they were fortunate to score 2 from only 2 shots on target , our defence and keeper very static. But, beating City and Everton away, plus a draw with Spurs, is not to bad, consistency is the name of the game regarding moving up the Premier league this season, Cheers. GWH

Beemersarebest,

Be very careful what you wish for, Spurs with their riches, based in London (apparently the deal breaker for players wives) their billion dollar stadium and a CL spot have ended up with Thomas fookin Frank, we've got an elite manager who's been dealt a very bad hand two summers in a row now. It would be such a shame to lose him because people like you won't stop putting the bloke down.

I dont know what the answer is.
