They say history repeats itself...
This fascinating video not only reveals how St James' Park developed over the years but also how plans to improve it were delayed and put back time and again... exactly where we are again now as PIF's plans gather dust in the boardroom drawers.
From the Team Playing in Red & White Stripes, to a Swimming Pool in the Stand, and No Development for 80 Years... this video will reveal at least one or more SJP facts that I bet you never knew.
PS. The guy narrating keeps referring to the ground as St James Park instead of St James' Park. A small price to pay for a fascinating history of the Cathedral on the Hill.

As regards the ground redevelopment, it can only be worth it if it more than just adds revenue from 10-15,000 more match days seats /burgers & pints.
With it being a city centre location, there is an ideal opportunity to make all food / drink / entertainment options built into the ground to be street facing too. I'm sure the club would want to sweat their assets. The city is calling out for a new indoor arena for music. The Gateshead scheme has fallen through and the current Newcastle arena is in a bad location / too small / a crap tin shed. Opportunities there to incorporate one into the ground redevelopment. I'm sure the club would be happy…
Did a leading councillor not give an interview to the Chronicle saying they haven't even had any discussions with the club yet.
De Zerbi at Spurs is following the Chelsea rule book
He's trying to sign at least 7 new players for over £350 million to rebuild Spurs.
To go nowhere.
That'll end very badly.
The saying is ‘ no news is good news’ but not in the NUFC context. There’s a general sense of malaise affecting us at the moment and our negativity could be borne out of frustration with ‘nothing happening.’
Could there be a threat to local publicans and businesses if the stadium were to be built out of town? I don’t know what the consequences would be either way, but something needs to be done or a conclusive statement of intentions put forward so we’re not ‘kept in the dark’ that Onmeedsun referred to earlier. 😎
