Why Isn't Aladji Bamba Playing for Newcastle United?

Newcastle United spent a reported £34 million signing Aladji Bamba from Monaco in July, but more than three months later, the 20-year-old midfielder is still waiting for his first Premier League start.

And following Newcastle's 1–1 draw at Fulham, supporters have another reason to question his absence.

Bamba travelled to Craven Cottage but wasn't even named among the substitutes.

He was effectively Newcastle's extra player, despite having played just 27 minutes since joining the club.

Why Has Matthias Jaissle Left Bamba Out?

Jaissle has already addressed the situation.

The Newcastle manager says Bamba is progressing but faces considerable competition in midfield.

He also believes maintaining a settled central unit is important for developing stability and confidence within the team.

Bamba's involvement with France's youth teams has provided valuable playing time, but Jaissle has indicated that sending him to Newcastle's under-21s isn't currently planned.

Could Bamba Leave Newcastle in January?

There is already speculation about whether a loan move might benefit the French midfielder.

Recent reporting suggests Newcastle are not rushing into a decision, although a temporary move could become an option if his opportunities remain limited.

For Newcastle supporters, however, the bigger question is why the club invested £35 million in a midfielder who cannot get into a struggling Premier League side.

With Jaissle's team desperately needing results, leaving such an expensive signing on the sidelines is becoming increasingly difficult to explain.

And unless Bamba starts getting opportunities soon, questions about Newcastle's summer recruitment will only grow.
